  1. This is the other end of the train, picture taken down Great Northern Terrace Lincoln, It's 47 786 "Roy Castle OBE" if you look on the ground at the side of the loco you can see where the Lincs fire service have laid out a hose ready to quench the thirst of Oliver Cromwell. I do have a picture of the fire service tanker if you are interested Rog
  2. Thanks for that firbeck, not out of my way though it's on me way home from work so I stopped at Dunston about 10 miles from Lincoln, good views across the open fields and on the embankment, this is the replacement 56 601 at the head, on the tail end was 47 786 Roy Castle OBE, it was by chance that I took the pic I thought I could use the next train through as a sighting to get my camera settings right and this was it, I took a few more in the sidings at Lincoln while the better half was shopping in the Tesco if you are interested Rog
  3. firbeck, Take your film to one of these independent photographic shops (family run) and explain to them about the film and it's age and potential importance I'm sure they would try their best to salvage it just from the challenge point of view, good luck with it anyway, look forward to seeing it posted on here Rog
  4. I have been told it's coming to Lincoln via Spalding and Sleaford, if thats the case it should be going passed Metheringham and Dunston between 12.15 and 12.45. both these places are on my way home from work so I might be lucky and get a couple of pics, also it's shopping day at the Tesco on Canwick road Lincoln and Lincoln station is just 200 mtrs away so I might be able to see it there as well, pics to follow if I get any Rog PS nice to see you're back posting Rob, I trust you are well
  5. I'll be round at our church yard tonight to watch St George parade past then the Morris dancers will perform in the pub gardens and that will be followed by the lighting of the beacon on the village green at about 20.30hr. Have a great St Georges day every one !! Rog
  6. Ayup Katyjay, The cuckoo has been reported in Lincolnshire but not in our back field as yet, the deer are moving in this part of the world also and there are plenty of muntjack about, my better half told me she nearly ran into one yesterday whilst out running the lanes, the sand martins arrived about 4/5 weeks ago and thats usually a sign of spring in the sand and gravel industry. We had an American robin over here a couple of years ago, Devon/Cornwall area but the twitchers got wind of it and hounded the poor thing to death, it tried to get away from all the fuss and just died of exhaustion
  7. What remains of the platform, a lot of memories for me there also Ian, it's one of the first places I went to as a young lad just starting out bird watching, looking for dippers, blackcap, kingfisher and the more exotics of the wagtail family, saw them all yesterday except for the dipper, maybe next week, there's a lovely little place at the back of Cressbrook mill that sells tea and coffee at only 75p per cup, so I will pay him a visit again, just remembered, as we got to the top of one hill four buzzards appeared for a few seconds then vanished as quick as they appeared, in my early birdin
  8. And who said pig's can't fly????? !laughing!
  9. Monsal viaduct looking west towards Manchester, no Julia Bradbury yesterday but might see her next week as we are going to finish the rest of the walk, weather permitting, more pics to follow when I get a minute Rog
  10. Catfan, Enhance away, be my guest. it looks better already, thanks Firbeck, I'm working next Saturday so might not be able to see 70013, depends what time it gets to Lincoln, if it's mid PM I might just make it, to get on to the chimey being too high for the wires, if you look at Tornado's chimney it hasn't got that flange on the top it just comes to an abrupt end, could that be something to do with reducing the height?. Incidentally, We had a walk along quite a bit of the Monsal trail today, if you want some pics of the viaduct and old station building and platform let me know Rog
  11. Thats better, on the return trip to Kings cross, same vantage point at South Muskham at 18.30hrs, good clear sky and the sun was behind me and shining on Tornado Rog

  14. There was a group captain Tait in charge of 617 sqdn (Dambusters) wonder if it's the same chap, Interesting story about the nuclear stuff Stan, I suppose some more stories could come through now as they start to lose their secrecy status (public information) Rog
  15. As you say Ian, Up close and personal, these comedians tried to blow me out of the hedge bottom at the side of Cranwell, like you the lens wouldn't go any shorter so I just got a bit of the Merlin Rog
  16. Great pics Ian, worth posting on the aviation website, up close you say?? that explains why your hair looked shorter and your face redder when you came back from the flight path, The Alfa jet singe!!!!! Rog PS: the BBMF were up today, most of the afternoon including the Lanc

  18. Sorry to hear about that Ian and hope all the family are OK. If the scousers been hurt I should imagine there will be some sort of all night vigil out side the hospital, flowers all over the crash site and no doubt someone will want to write a song about the incident. Any way mate take care of yourself and look after the family Rog
  19. Great day as usual and once again great company, I thank you all for coming over. As you say firbeck "salt of the earth" I think we left a lasting impression on the locals as being friendly and of good cheer so in no way did we let NOTTSTALGIA down. As I turned into the close where I live last night at about 17.59 I received a text message on my phone from a mate at Tattershall informing me that THE LANC was up, yes Ian it took off at the last minute round about six as we were told by Tom Jones, just for the record though, there was nothing at all flying today from any of the local bases so
  20. And what type of morbid person would want to buy such a record???????? Rog
  21. Display Typhoon up yesterday (Monday) at 08.10hrs, not up at all today so fyngers crossed we should be in luck tomorrow at some point, the weather looks good after initial light showers, PM is forecast for clear skies
  22. A train is the whole thing, ie the motive power bit and all the rolling stock to go with it, the bit at the front (and even the rear theses day's) is called the Loco or Locomotive. just thought I would throw that one in for the PC brigade Rog
