  2. Radioactivity by Kraftwerk......revolutionary. This album started my love of electronic music.
  3. I can remember both sets of Grandparents having an outside loo....in Bestwood and Sneinton. I can also remember, being one of the youngest Grand children, having to wait 'till my older cousins had finished! Phew, what a smell!!!!
  4. I don't know what Ray Trew expects! 11th in the league, next to no money to spend, half the team made up of loanees.....we weren't doing that badly, were we? Must be something deeper to this.
  5. I agree with the above comments...awful building. Had the misfortune of actually going inside to see the " art ", apart from making a good cup of coffee, it doesn't do anything for me!!
  6. When I'm in the City, I'm forever looking up at the buildings.....frightened of missing summat I suppose! My wife is forever telling me to get a move on....

Pixie, you may be interested to know of some booklets produced by the Nottingham Civic Society, which you can purchase from the Nottingham Visitor Centre. these are the " Get To Know Nottingham " series and the " City Guide " series. These are wonderful publications, which I have found to be fascinating. They will help you as you explore our great City.

  11. Sorry if these have posted before. My Dad used to mek me laugh with these sayings: Dad: would yer? Me: would I what? Dad: sh*t and fall back in it! You've got a face like a " bosted boot! " meaning I was a miserable little so and so.... When he was emptying the ashes, I can remember him saying : " Bleddy 'ell, I've gone and bont me sen! "
  12. Hi homegirl. Only been a member myself for a few days and you're right, it is a friendly forum. My late father was born and bred in Sneinton in the 40's and 50's, living on Skipton Circus or " Skippo " as he used to call it!! Be nice to hear your memories of the time you were there.

  15. Going off track.....I can remember watching Tollerton Air Show from the fields on what is now the Abbey Park Estate in West Bridgford in the 70's, then sneaking over the gate near Grantham Canal to get in for free!! oooh bad lads....

  22. Thanks for the welcome guys. Unfortunately my Dad passed away years ago MEGA, but he left me plenty of memories of growing up in the old Sneinton area in the 40's and 50's.
  23. Hello everyone. I'm a new member with an interest in the old buildings of Nottingham, Nottingham architects and general history, especially of the Lace Market area. I look forward to taking part in the forums. My all time favourite British film is " Saturday Night and Sunday Morning ". I can remember the tales my Dad told me of the time he worked at Raleigh, around the time the film was shot.
