  1. Hallmark suggest diamonds or jewellery for the TENTH anniversary!!! Our daughter had a diamond ring a couple of months ago for their 10th! It's crazy and as you say Tomlinson, they simply don't expect people to get as far as 60 years together! I have had 3 60th anniversaries to buy for over the last couple of years and it is hard to even get a decent card!
  2. Glad to hear your foot is on the mend Rog. Carni I think you are going to be one to watch now you have the bit between your teeth You have both beaten me today, I have only managed 5864 so far, that's after my double circuit of the site. Friday is always a tied to the office day for whoever is on duty (yup, me today) and then it rained, that's about all the excuses I can think of for now Still I have to do my Plank challenge yet, 90 seconds today but I don't think that will count for many steps.
  3. Fitbit reading for today is 6108 1hr 45mins of yoga tonight = 4725 steps (according to the chart) So total for the day is 10,833 steps...........phew I think I might have to lie down now. Night night all
  4. Both parents feeding their offspring at this moment.
  5. Lunch break...having just cleaned the two shower blocks, reading 4284 so far. We are off this afternoon and will be visiting the local garden centre among other places so hopefully will get more steps in before I go to my weekly yoga class tonight.....must check your chart, Rog, to see if yoga counts as I don't take my fitbit with me usually. Onwards and upwards.....
  6. Sad news. RIP Errol Brown
  7. You don't have to be in touch all the time to be true friends. I have only kept in touch with some friends by Christmas card exchange, but realised that they are the true friends when they travelled from Scotland for my ex husbands funeral. It's not being there all the time that counts, it's being there when they are needed.
  8. Still not a bad result really Carni, I don't normally get much more than 6000, and am only getting a few more in because I am really focussing on it. By 11am I had only managed just over 1000 steps, though on the plus side in our office there are no chairs, we are on our feet most of the time, just not moving a great deal. When I needed to know where someone was pitched I walked round the site to find them, and another walk a bit later on just to check everyone was pitched correctly (very important on this site as it's royal rules here!!),followed by some cone raking up (all brought down by
  9. It's all exercise, so that's what really counts. Can you change the resistance on your bike? I seem to remember we could when we used to have one (we got bored on it too) We have now bought a stand for our normal bikes so that we can use them in the garage if the weather is too bad to go out in (probably use it in the winter...we haven't tried it yet) But I really enjoy my treadmill when I'm at home, Just stick some music on and walk to it.
  10. Well according to Rog's chart 1 hour cycling equals 10200 steps carni, so adding your shopping and housework to it that will be about 13200 steps....beats me by a long chalk. Today I have done 8995 steps (4.07 miles) I boosted my daily steps with a walk around the site tonight. Tomorrow is another office day so it will be harder to get the steps in, I shall have to be creative!!!
  11. Today I have done 8163, that was working at it for me as I have been in the office all day, so any little errand that needed doing saw me volunteering. But my husband, who is a Nottstalgian incognito , managed 13190!!! This is because he is out onsite all day doing groundwork and sorting out any little problems that may arise. Your total for today Rog is what I normally try to attain, but not always successfully, so we shall see. I think you will not be doing too badly yourself
  12. #13 Rog, just had a spell on my treadmill, 2 mph = 84 steps per minute, so not too bad a rate. I go up to 3.5mph which is a brisk walk (for me, the next level would be running which I do not do) and that measured in at 115 steps per minute. Managed to do 7207 steps so far today with 3000 being on the treadmill, never got to walk around Besthorpe Nature reserve due to visitors this morning and heavy rain this afternoon. Heigh ho, back to Sandringham and circuits of the site tomorrow....better do a couple of bin runs too if I've got aim higher than usual!! Good luck to all who are up for the
  13. I'm up for it Rog. I have a Fitbit and generally average 6000 steps a day, so a few more to do will be a good challenge for me. I sometimes take to the treadmill to boost the steps, but don't have that with me at Sandringham, so I'll just have to do more circuits of the site. Will be walking round Besthorpe nature reserve on Sunday though.....that worked out at 3.5 miles last time I did it ( a mile is around 2-3000 steps) so that will be good practice for next week. Cycling is good exercise though Carni, so if you can record your miles we can equate that into steps perhaps
  14. I used to like Shari Lewis with Lambchop. and in later years Ronn Lucas with Scorch
  15. Brilliant view of the chicks having tea at the moment.
  16. PeverilPeril I don't not know if there was significance in the snow fall on the day of your sons birth, but a little research on the spirituality of snow was interesting. Snow was regarded as being half heaven and half earth which falls gently and silently, teaching us that we must do things with gentleness, and in a paced manner. Rain starts as snow which will submerge everything if allowed to pour, snow is a symbol of the first gentle steps of what is to come. When snow comes it covers all the grime and presents us with a sense of serenity and purity. Perhaps the snow falling on the day
  17. RIP Keith Harris and his friends Orville and Cuddles. It seems things were not always so good for this talented entertainer, he had his share of troubles too http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32498955
  18. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/lifestyle/9230904/Beltane-Britains-ancient-festival-is-making-a-comeback.html. With Beltane just around the corner here's a link about how some celebrations are making a comeback. Bright blessings to you all at Beltane.
  19. Well they certainly can't now!!! Parent bird really struggling with both wings spread out now to protect their brood, who are all peeping out at the front!!
  20. Only who would control the larger predators? Just swapping the problem for a bigger one.
  21. They are thinking of re introducing lynx back into Britain, if they can bring back the bear as well as the wolf it should keep the anti fox hunting brigade happy as they are fox predators so would be no need to hunt old Charlie down!!!!
  22. I can't possible comment, But Newark and Gainsborough have a group each of certain peoples and we live on the rat run between the two areas. How about that for non inflammatory diplomacy...perhaps I should run for parliament or maybe just for the hills!!!!
  23. The funniest sight just now. One parent bird on the nest, second parent bird flew in and sidled up to its mate. They then seemed to be having a conversation which probably went something like "Well you took your time" "Sorry darling but you know what Friday night traffic is like....any way what do you fancy for tea?" "I wouldn't mind a night out after all this nesting lark, still they're all asleep now so how about a nice bit of pigeon?" "Ok. I'll just nip out and get it, before the kids wake up. See you in a bit".......exit second parent bird again!!!!
