  1. Is it possible to get a picture of that picture? I have mentioned this before but my father was born at 2 Radford Bridge Road which was demolished to make way for The Crown. His father was master carpenter on the Nottingham Canal and the house came with the job. The house was immediately the opposite side of the road to the lock. I have never seen a picture of the house but yours may have a chance if its pointing that way.
  2. Up to a point I must agree. It's time to just get on with life - but take obvious precautions.

  6. I must agree. It will be with us until someone creates a vaccine. It will still be with us then. It will no more go away than German Measles, Whooping Cough, Chicken Pox etc.
  7. Their family name was actually Covell and they originated from Aspley. From memory their vans were light blue and cream very much in the style of Mister Softee.
  8. That was about it. I had a sore throat, achey bones, and general tiredness that went away after about a week or so. But on top of that I had, not so much chest pains, but a sensation that I could feel myself breathing. That lasted about 3 weeks.
  9. I don't know anyone who has had it, unless I had it myself in a mild form early January and was unaware of what it was.

  11. I think that is what I am going to do. It seems a pity to waste them. Same goes for the blackberries growing nearby.
  12. Must admit, I have never heard of a Sloe. They are about the size of grapes. I assume they are edible?
  13. Anyone know what these blue berry thingys are? I'm obviously not a gardener
  14. I had a go at making a blackberry pie last year but it was all juice. I have seen no mention of pectin yet. I thought it was normal to use that in jam.
  15. Lots of bramble berries starting to go black. I intend making jam. Question is, as I don't have any jam jars, does jam keep OK in Kilner jars? Any help or other suggestion appreciated
  16. I thought the reason it was called Covid-19 was to do with its 'discovery' in 2019.
  17. Another photo of RB 8961 but where is the picture taken?
  18. Thanks. I knew he was the first bantam to be killed but I hadn't seen that article before. Tried to find his grave more than once buty no success yet. I had assumed it is one of the military gravestones as they are easily spotted.
  19. To post pictures on here you need to use outside hosting like Postimg.org I have seen your car on the rally circuit years ago. I always keep my eyes open for Nottingham registered cars.
  20. Bet he knew my grandmothers first husband John Henry Lakin. Notts & Derby Regiment Sherwood Foresters. Injured 1.7.1916, first day of the Somme and died in hospital in Manchester about 2 weeks later.
  21. No. I said it was on Mansfield Road/corner of Bluecoat Street when Malcolm's car (and mine) was registered in 1954. Stuart C has agreed. Trumans were on Huntingdon Street much later. You photo/ad shows C H Truman in its original place on Mansfield Road, long before it moved to Huntingdon Street
  22. No it isn't on Huntingdon Street. Its on Mansfield Road. No 61 to be precise. It says so on the advert
  23. RB 8954 at Victoria Station Hotel. The one in RR's picture above is RB 8961
  24. Welcome to the forum Malcolm, from another Malcolm with a brace of P4 Rovers, both 100's. One of mine is also a Nottingham City registered car owned for many years by John Herbert, a jeweller. Just one thing though, whilst your car would have most likely have been supplied by C H Truman, at the time yours was registered and up to sometime in the 1960's C H Truman were on Mansfield Road/corner of Bluecoat Street. Huntingdon Street came later. Give me a while and I should be able to find more info on Trumans.
