  1. I had noticed Cliff Tons comment and I had not said anything because I was waiting to see if it as long for someone to make a comment as it took to arrange the last meet. It was close It is time we did it again - preferably not at Joseph Else
  2. Yes I found similar. The reason my Fathers grandparents were never talked about was purely because there were one or two missing. My surname shouldn't be Harvey!
  3. My 4x great Grandfather was Eliab Harvey, Captain of HMS Temeraire, 2nd ship in the line behind HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. The Temeraire being the subject of that famous Turner painting 'The Fighting Temeraire'. Well now prove that he wasn't my 4x .great Grandfather. I have traced the Harvey's back to 1806 and that is only as a result of what I see on the earliest 1841 census. Any earlier and I have got to start searching through Church records. I reckon you could just make it up as you go along like I just did - or did I?
  4. Can't remember the last time I saw policeman in Eastwood
  5. Andrew Panton of Lincolnshire Aviation Trust has just posted on their Facebook Group a message saying that the Canadian Lancaster is still grounded due to its engine failure. So if you were thinking of going tomorrow or doing same as me and planting yourself somewhere on route, three Lancasters won't be happening.
  6. Apparently East Kirkby have lent them an engine for it. So I guess it won't be flying on Sunday
  7. Apparently the Canadian Lancaster only has an oil leak. Won't take long to fix. I would also like to know the best place for viewing. I don't know the area that well but surely Foxhill Road is on low ground so perhaps the best viewing might be somewhere higher?
  8. Thanks. Had no trouble registering with NOTAMS but I am still wondering what the attraction is at Pilsley! It's the land that time forgot. The reason I would like a map of the flightpath is because they are not just going to be spirited into the sky at Gedling. They are going to fly there, but where from and to?
  9. Can someone help with this please? i understand most it but not all. What is 'WI' and I assume that NM is nautical miles. I have seen maps of actual flight routes. Where are these to be found? 18) Posted 27 Aug 2014 11:00 GMT (12:00 BST) Tick here to remove this NOTAM from the maps and emails H4233/14: Air display will take placeQ) EGTT/QWALW/IV/M/AW/000/025/5258N00106W003 FLYPAST BY BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT ACFT WI 3NM RADIUS. 525812N 0010600W (GEDLING, CARLTON) OTHER AIRSPACE USERS ARE REQUESTED TO AVOID THIS AREA DURING THE STATED TIMES. 14-08-0218/OPS 2 LOWER: Surf
  10. No pictures of the actual event I am afraid but this sign is always seen outside the venue. (Public loo Nottingham Rd. Eastwood). I am not sure what it means. Is it 'No Peeing'? err 'No Dribbling'? You decide.
  11. Yes it is. If start arranging it now we might get it sorted by Christmas. I am not saying which Christmas though!
  12. I didn't particularly lurk! I just waited outside until you came out of the little brick building where I had moments before been standing at the side of you! I suspected that it might have been you but when I saw Martine outside it sort of confirmed it Nice to meet the both of you too. Two more faces to names.
  13. That wouldn't surprise me at all. It doesn't 'feel' that high!
  14. The marker for the highest point in Notts is well away from the Badger Box. It is beyond the traffic lights at the top of Shoulder of Mutton Hill. There are only another dozen or so houses further on than the sign before you come into open countryside.
  15. When I did my PSV driver training many years ago I went on an assessment first. The instructor said at the end 'to be a good bus driver you should adopt a very laid back attitude'. Well I thought about that and I just applied it to everything. It works a treat for me!
  16. Went out to a piano today made by a maker I had not seen before. manufactured c.1890's. I was wondering if it was made by by the ancestors of a long standing member of this forum?
  17. The first picture of the two that Cliffton has put on there is the only bit of Victoria Station I can actually remember.
  18. If I had known you lived there I could have got you to put the kettle on for me. I did a delivery to Chesham, Bucks a few weeks ago and came across and spent the rest of the day in the RAF Museum + a visit to Hannants.
  19. Pleased I am not interested in emigrating. All this stuff you foreigners can't get
  20. Hmmm! Now there's a thing. It must have gone away or I wouldn't have been able to mention it here. Has it only gone temporarily though?
  21. Just had this message blocking me out: Is it my computer or a Nottstalgia fault? 502 Bad GatewayThe server returned an invalid or incomplete response.
