  1. Do you know what your parents furniture shop is now by any chance? Sure I've passed it if it's on Alfreton Road
  2. Loved the story Smiffy, as an English Lit student I appreciated reading something truly beautiful and use of metaphor, may I quote; 'As the bus moved along I noticed with some amusement how on each corner the heads of the other passengers would sway and nod gently in unison. I smiled to myself forgetting my nerves, they reminded me of a field of corn in the breeze.' Love piece of story telling and like everyone else want to read on :D You're not wrong Bamber, I wasn't allowed anywhere on my own until much later than most people have stated on the thread. I was allowed to catch the scho

  4. Haha seems so. I had a feeling it may have been you who posted it
  5. I sure do hope I live to see them out of a standard mid table position. Would have loved to be a fan in the glory days!
  6. Thought I'd jump on this thread as I see it's titled 'Primary School'. Was just wondering if anyone has any recollections of Douglas Primary School on Ilkeston Road? Sadly shut down in 2008.
  7. Very true Lizzie. Everything happens for a reason as the saying goes!
  8. Seems your Father was quite the bright spark Lizzie! My Dad was a good footballer in his day too and played for City Boys and got scouted by Man City but for some reason gave up on it!
  9. Cheers Babs! There's still a tonne of posts and threads I'm yet to read so expect a few oldies being bumped when I get around to them :D hope no one minds!
  10. Hey Babs! Regards to your husband Piggy also! I'm still a newbie so yet to attend a meet up although it sounds like a lot of fun! I'll have a browse around for your photos, would be nice to put faces to names I see you mentioned bikers! Seems Matlock Bath is the place to be for them! I love it there! PS. I just realised I started this post and posted zero information or photos of myself on it lol! If anyone is interested, I will post a little something
  11. The links are insane haha! My Gran, whom I never got to meet went attended in the 1930s! Have you seen the LentonTimes website? (Can't recall who posted it before on another thread) but I happened to stumbled across a photo of my Gran on there! There's a few names that could possibly be your Mum! If you're not familiar with the site, I'll link you to it Same for you Lizzie! You might find a photo of your Father on the site, you never know! Will post a link if anyone wants/hasn't got it already
  12. So close to me! Carry on from your old place down Norton Street... I'm the next right, to the bottom then left I shall think of you next time I'm passing... most likely tomorrow
  13. How shameful that the main change a re-visitor to Nottingham noticed was the amount of Poundshops lol. Although, to be fair, they are absolutely everywhere.
  14. Seems your Gran and my Mum both lived on the same street back in the day! Who knows, could even have been the same even! Thanks for sharing with me 86a Norton Street is just up from where I live at the moment! What's your connection to the house Mike?! Thanks Cliff Ton, will check the thread out
  15. The swimming baths on Boden Street is now a Snooker/Pool/Hang out place for chavs if it's where I think it used to be!
  16. Unfortunately it is! My Mum has always stayed local to the area and definitely would have been close by in the early/mid 60s. She was born in '57 so would only have been a young 'un mind.
  17. Thank you for sharing your memories with me! My Mum grew up on Boden Street and surrounding streets. Although the house has since been demolished.
  18. Hey! Might be a good idea to post in the thread relating specifically to St Anns or to have a browse there for any info http://nottstalgia.com/forums/index.php?s=93c332f202b2800723e2acc8e267bc7d&showforum=65
  19. I would love to! I shall keep my eye on the Spring Meet Up thread
