Yes ....if you were brought up on Broxtowe Estate and went to Player you knew how to look after yourself. Also all those endless games of footie on the park paid dividends in the end .

If I remember Randolh Carter had very blonde / white hair and a skin complaint .... Eczema I think. Hi glaisdalelad I lived on Broxtowe Estate but had mates who lived in Bilborough. Was Terry Derbyshire in your "gang" or his brother Ian? Also Johnnie Evans. I worked with Terry Derbyshire at Entex Springs and went to school with Johnnie Evans ( Evo ).

I don't recall the " short skirt contest" but I do recall Pete Stringfellow coming to the Dungeon and throwing flowers into the audience whilst playing San Francisco ( Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair) on a midweek night... Wednesday I think. He got soundly booed off stage and I don't think he ever came again.

When I was a kid living on Broxtowe Estate we used to have Bales Ice Cream come round. A special treat was to have a bowl of ice cream with your tinned fruit cocktail for Sunday tea. You used to take a bowl to the van and depending how much you could afford he would fill it accordingly. Bales also made lovely ice lollies ( suckers) Lemonade and Dandelion & Burdock come to mind. Also the sucker stick sometime had a letter on it and if you found one of these you were entitled to a free one.

The "Cods Scallops" in Bramcote is a brilliant chippy and has won national awards for its fish and chips. Also Captain Cods on Perry Road another good one.

Yes I remember it well. There was a waitress there who took your orders and didn't even write them down. She remembered everything that people had ordered and always got everything right, If I remember correctly it was on three floors and she used to run and down those stairs ten to the dozen.

The best chippy I remember was Hadlums on Broxtowe Lane ( middle Shops) this would be early/ mid 60's. I also remember the Robin Hood on Arkwright Street as used to call there on the way to the match, One of the best I go to now is Andy's on Bracebridge Drive.

Hi Susyshoes I have seen them twice in the last couple of months....... Quite recently at Catchems Corner and before that at The Bell in town.They are a brilliant group and have a good following.

The people I remember are Little Eric, Jimmy Faye, Mondo, Stu Morris, Jan, Kevin Reynolds, Jimmy Flowers, Paddy Walsh and Pete Blood plus the Mini Boys.
