  1. I'll bet if you'd been mowing a paddock all day in the hot blazing sun that youd pay so much attantion to your lawns..
  2. Ouch Baz! Those radar detectors saved me a few bucks! Funny over here in the states, some states have banned them, yet the police like them, they use them to slow traffic on interstates when theres a major accident! They just point a police car into the traffic and turn their radar on, automatically slows traffic! I've seen it done several times. Funny about seat belts, the California Highway Patrol released a report a couple of years back. In it their figures pointed to more deaths and injuries accounted for in accidents with seat belt wearers! I'd presume they meant drivers not passen
  3. Or peeing them off legally What do you do when one sits on your tail while out driving, knowing full well he is after some of your points?? Sorry Mick B) When I was in NSW and a highway patrol car decided he'd up his monthly quota at my expense, I'd slow down from 100kmh to 80kmh, boy that used to pee them off, you should see their faces after a few clicks!! They used to pass me at 200kph to get away from this lunatic, then I'd go back up to the speed limit again. PS, I always had a radar detector with me too!
  4. Gee Caz, what do you use for a lawnmower?? Time you got a ride on! I'm looking for a four foot PTO driven for my little 17 horse Kabota tractor for the house 6 acres. The big five foot rough cuts OK for the fields, but doesn't do a good enough job on straight lawn mowing..
  5. Brush Strokes was a good comedy as was Porrage and it's spin offs.. I saw Brush Strokes while I lived in Oz, and a mate of mine took me to a pub, his local near Barry, he said the landlord was a perfect for the one in Brushstrokes, he talked the same acted the same and yet hadn't heard of the tv show!! I wonder if the scriptwriters had visited the Barry pub!! Was his name Elmo??
  6. You'll have to wait a bit until I get the high speed internet connection, then they will be on my website for all to see.. I'll also put Cotgraves overlay maps up too. Maybe then, some ex Cotgrave worker will ID each face number..
  7. Huh, TV weather reporters messed that up!!! I googled and came up with Montana minus 69.7 at Rogers Pass..
  8. When and where? Somewhere near Immigrant Pass in the high Sierras on Interstate 80 Mick.. Lowest recorded temp in the lower 48.. Googgle it! Most folk forget they have some high mountains in Northern California..
  9. We have had a load of cold air from Canada Den, it's them stupid Canadians, thought if they sent it all south that they'd have a warm winter... Did you know Den, the coldest recorded temperature in the lower 48 was recorded in California??? Most folk plump for North Dakota or Montana, but no, it was recorded in California.
  10. Don't be dirty Mick... Best comedy is the Blue Collar Comedy Show On the Road! Now there's no PC stuff with Jeff Foxworthy and Larry The Cable Guy!! Just good to honest down south hill billy humour! Those guys bring tears to my eyes!
  11. You've never lived unless you've tasted a REAL ozzie meat pie form a small bakery/pie shop! Now thats summat I do miss from down under real bad!
  12. There used to be a small bakery that also made it's own meat pies at the bottom of George Street in Bathurst NSW. At lunchtime, there used to be queue's leading outside for workers buying their hot fresh meat pies! They were fantastic. There also was a pie shop in Wollongong NSW, that sold delicious meat pies!
  13. But there's nowt like a fresh hot meat pie from a pie shop in Oz Caz!! That hot delicious gravy dribbling down yer chin and a coldun to wash it down! Three course meal in Oz, meat pie and two cold tinnies!
  14. Remember when it was "six pennorth 'of chips, meat pie and mushy peas"?
  15. There used to be a chippy at the top of Arkwright Street in the late 60's somewhere near Boots Chemist shop, they used to sell superb chicken curry and chips! The Ex and myself used to drop by after kicking out time at the Sir Richard Arkwright pub.
  16. Yeh I saw you were getting a freezing winter Elaine, it's a balmy 28F here at the moment, big change from the 11F it was yesterday at this time.
  17. Well it is global warming though Den! Sure it's a load of BS about us mere humans causing it. One volcano blowing it's top causes more pollution in a mere few days than we as humans have produced in our time on Mother Earth. One thing the government paid scientists who have a vested interest in looking after their highly paid jobs are not telling everyone, is, all the planets are getting hotter due to unexplainable solar activity. There is also a source of cosmic acitivity hitting us from deep space, nobody knows where it's coming from! It could be the cause of our own suns unexplained ex
  18. Check thgis vacuum tube amp out at $3590!! Tube Amp
  19. The Marantz Gold Line, the tube set up was always rated as the finest designed and engineered sound system on the market Mick. Don't matter a toss these days to me as I have hearing damage from working near heavy machinery plus aging of my hearing, so I wouldn't be able to tell the difference anymore. I used to be able to hear bats when others couldn't, that shows the highs I could hear years ago.
  20. I spent a year there when I worked for GT Ranby before I went to the Coal Board. There used to be a lecturer who wrote everything down on the blackboard, and you had to copy it, or he'd dictate his lesson. Never taught us like any of the others..
  21. I always dreamed of having a Marantz, but alas they were way out of my price range. Then when I could afford one and purchased one in the late 80's, I found they were now made in Japan... There is a company that sells origonal designed tube amplifiers complete with all the same old components Marantz used for a few thousand bucks a pop! They purchased the speaker transformers as surplus from the Marantz wharehouse. At around $7000 each, I'm afraid I'll stay with my solid state 120 watts per channel Marantz.
  22. The only sound system we had back in those days Craig, was a steam radio!
  23. I checked on my maps Mick, Clifton did not work any seams beneath Attenborough. I'd say they are too close to the Sherwood sandstone around there. They did work under parts of Beeston, nearly up to the sewage works in the deep hard seam, don't see any dates though! Probably the late 1800's early 1900's.
