  1. Your dearest wife? Do you have so many you have to rank them by price??
  2. From me n all... Cheers everyone!
  3. As a scruffy student in what now seems a lifetime ago Baez and Dylan were de rigueur. I find her a bit too shrill and sugary now. Her Diamonds and Rust was better where she sings an octave lower.
  4. From PP website:- A 15’ ‘Wafter’ will cover more water and let you start to dibble or dance a dropper for longer and much further... It must terrible if you can't dibble at a dance when your wafter is too short.
  5. One of the things I miss most is doing stuff like that with the kids...
  6. Good point Compo but not doing it (occasionally, when I remember) precludes any the chance of winning a fortune. It's true I have not made a profit but the fillip from having even a small win puts a smile on my face for the day.
  7. I If the screen is at its native settings and a spare screen has no problem the fault is with the monitor. 19v is fine.
  8. Not really Ayup it's a Samsung full HD. There are cheaper ones it's true but he will only buy Samsung
  9. I would suggest the backlight/s, there's usually two, are on their way out. It's not a difficult fix and quite cheap if a bit fiddly.
  10. If he's young Ben there will be a senior around somewhere, I'd report him.
  11. I have recently repaired an 'dead' 24" monitor for a friend. A new replacement monitor £110, parts to repair £27 The downside, the part (cfl driver board), had to come from China, the strange bit is the label on it - Made in Korea...
  12. I must make an appointment with Specsavers, you'll never believe what I thought I've just read!
  13. The Donald Tusk quote is not complete, it has been taken out of context and so puts a whole different meaning to his words. He was NOT referring to Brexiteers, his comment was aimed at naïve Brexit negotiators who have no clear plan. He also continued on the say he hoped the EU and the UK would continue to have a close partnership. Belgium’s Mark Rutte demanded the British be brought back to earth….as their terms for negotiation were very unrealistic. (Mark Rutte by the way is Dutch) Seems entirely reasonable to me, we approached leaving with the totally erroneous under
  14. Really?? wow the things you learn on Nottstalgia is amazing...
  15. That's where it all gets a bit silly. If the driver talking to a passenger is banned will they ban passengers talking to the driver? Will the charge be 'Driving whilst moving ones lips'? Listening to the radio and tapping the wheel in time to music.. If it means making more money from the motorist they will find a way I'm sure
  16. It comes down to what 'they' consider an acceptable risk. Banning hands free phones is mooted because having a conversation whilst driving means you cannot give 100% concentration to the road. Taking this argument to it's logical conclusion, talking to passengers, listening to the radio, smoking are all distractions and should be banned.
  17. It's not your excuse it's Labours and Corbyn trying to explain his total lack of commitment and leadership. So we have gone from 'oven ready' to 'we need another year'. Will it ever end...
  18. Well neer ne ne neer ne I won 90 quid on the Lottery....
  19. Me too... didn't bother looking for the other answers...
  20. In the Russian press one commentator said "the best slogan won". Think about it for a moment 'for the many, not the few' and 'get Brexit done'. which is snappier? whilst neither can be said to be specific the Labour slogan is more esoteric and decidedly passive voice, the Tory slogan is much more assertive and identifiable in it's intent. I accept the manifesto is worrying but now that he has a good majority he may not pursue it. A very weak excuse Col, something better known as prevarication and indecision.
  21. So am I, or was. I thought 'what a great idea' and bought a Samsung S6 (a refurb because I'm a tight sod). Sadly I can think of no other use for it than calls and text with an odd photo. Tried accessing the 'Net when I first got it but it's such a palaver I gave up. My old Nokia C20 does all that in a much smaller package. Anything else can wait
  22. And I bet none of them die!
  23. There are quite a few cars with voice activation. Tell the satnav where you're going, who to phone etc. I speak regularly with some senior police officers and it's their opinion the Dept of Trans has accepted that hands free is a 'hazard' and are considering a ban. The stumbling block is how to police it. In an accident one of the first things they check now days is your phone.
  24. And we got here without a single mobile phone before 1973! How good are we?
  25. So they are as I said convenient not essential. None of the other stuff you mention is really necessary and I seriously doubt any of us have had a life changing phone call whilst out driving - and hands free calls will soon be banned.
