  1. Tha Archers, is Walter Gabriel still in it?
  2. Alpha, just a quick question. Wasn't the main character in Journey into space, called Jet? and I seem to remember a character called Lemmy.
  3. If memory is correct, the noodles in the Chow Mein were in a little cellophane packet, consisting of brittle strips. When dropped in hot fat they would then burst into life. They were the nearest thing you could get to Nibbets (remember them?). I could quite easily eat a plate of them on their own. Were the main ingredients freeze dried? Not a bad stand by though when stuck for time.
  4. Ya couldna dun it raight.
  5. Don't upset Oz, he loves parsnips as does SG. Me, I can take em or leave em. That's why I live in a Parsi nage.
  6. Forgive us our trespasses. (Wot does parsimonious mean?).
  7. Phil, if you find you have too many chips to eat, just let them cool and then freeze what you have left. You can bung them in the oven whenever you want them. Tried it many times and they've always been fine. Forgive me if I'm preaching to the converted.
  8. Good for you Ben. Hope you enjoyed your coffee. The last time I went to Kirkby was in 1986, when I went to obtain a cabbies licence from the ounces office. Still got it, I wonder if could return it?
  9. It's now 12.50 on a Friday an' I've just finished me favourite...Corned Beef, egg, chips and mushy peas with a generous dribble of beef gravy. I'll be in Utopia for the rest of the day.
  10. SG, threaten to set your giant spider on him. That might calm him down, if he thinks he's being outnumbered.
  11. Some people have all the luck znd excitement AG.
  12. Yes, I'm here Mary. It's just that we went to the supermarket for the first time in 14 months and chose our very own items. What an experience, I had to go and have a lie down in a dark room with relax music playing in the background, that way I recovered from the trauma. Might write a book about the whole issue. Maybe Uncle Brew and Uncle Phil will mentor me.........(tongue firmly in cheek).
  13. 283848 ? Are you sure that wasn't your prison number?
  14. I've had Egon toast or Egon steak, but never had Egon Ronay.
  15. Is it get at Beekay week? What I do have though Phil, is Greek yoghurt on Thorntons toffee, it's called Creme Caramel.
  16. Gem, good morning. If you do decide to experiment then the gravy should be on your plate. That way the egg gets it share. Don't forget a slice of bread and butter for dabbing up. Or better still, a chip sarnie dipped in egg yolk. Bon appetite mon Cherie.
  17. In that case dear friend, I'll just plead insanity and trust in your forgiveness.
  18. Come off it Brew ! You've never lived if you ain't tried egg chips wiv gravy. Trust me, I would never deliberately lead you off the straight and narrer. Tell ya what, try it and if ya don't like it, I'll give you ya money back.
  19. There is only one way to eat egg and chips, and that is with mushy peas and GRAVY. Heaven on Earth with a slice of bread and butter to dab up. End of !
  20. Raw Parsnips ! Now we know why you were transported.
  21. Or some bloody do-goodercomes along with a rake and brush and sweeps it up, bags it and put it on the compost.
  22. Of the group of shops (all co-op i believe) immediately below the Albert Hotel, the first shop had a permanent contract with NCT for replacing glass in the first floor windows. The trolley buses in their rush to get away from that stop invariably lost one of their poles through the window. I remember that doll's hospital too. Not that I ever used it, you understand.
  23. Pretty sure Ben Bowers was in the old Boots shop at Canning circus, (top of Derby road/Wollaton street.
  24. SG, you can buy roasted parsnips and they are lovely. Shall I bring me own knife and fork? Got me own condiment set.
