I've had the pleasure of knowing John for well over 25 years. He is a one-off. As the leader of The Church of the Militant Elvis Party he has fought many elections, as Lord Biro he has been in print in the Daily Telegraph and other media.

I know him best as a drinking partner in the Trip (before it was ruined) and other real ale outlets in the city.

I think you may be talking about a different person Oldace?

The John Bishop referred to above is a Liverpudlian stand-up comedian and actor.

Is the 'Lord Biro' you refer to the chap on the left below, Dave Bishop? I see him in the Lincolnshire Poacher quite a bit. He was in there last night matter of fact.

I find him very funny...He said the other week that he showed his lad his first porn film as he explained the birds and bees...And added "Mind you son...most of them aren't as enthusiastic as that!"

Yes Stu, Dave is Lord Biro, just my little joke. BTW if you see Dave again can you tell him I will be in Notts from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th November. I will be in the Roebuck, Horse and Groom etc. I would really like a pint or three with him .

He lives just down the road from me and used to play footie for Winsford UTD. He occationally pops into my local for a beer or two and a frame of Snooker (The owner was owner of WUFC when he played for them)

I agree with Poohbear, I didn't like him at first but he grows on you. He's also a pretty good straight actor too, he was in a couple of recent episodes os "Accused" on BBC.

I just don't like all the sycophants who try to kiss his derier whilst he's having a break from his normal routine, these being the same folk who wouldn't give him the time of day when he was a strugling 'stand up'. (He probably thinks the same himself)

John bishop is one of my favourite comedians, him and michael mcintyre both have me in stitches... Maybe its because i can relate to them and their jokes because alot are about home life and parenthood.

Anyways, john was amazing last week, had me in tears! Glad to see we have a few 'fans' on the thread :)

Looks like Lord Biro has been busy on the political front!

Dave Bishop

A 'Broxta' lad, lived on or near Fenwick. He was a very smart good looking fella in his day attracted loads of girls. He and a mate were !st and 2nd in a best Jive comp. at the Palais.

A crowd of us used to go on Melbourne Park at night and someone took a portable record player, he came along showed the girls how to dance, we didn't stand a chance.
