Cliff Ton 10,512
Going out of Nottingham up Carlton Road, on the right-hand side before you get to the Porchester Road junction, there are several school / college buildings. Some have recently been demolished (the one called Castle College) but some remain - called City College. You can see them here on Streetview : https://goo.gl/maps/mDWtt1F57iE2 When they were operating as schools, what were they called ?
taxi ray 170
That was Manvers pierrpoint. I think, it is used as a form of community college now. Part of it was demolished, a couple of years ago. NCT are supposed to be moving there from Parliament st.

City College is the surviving part, and the bit that was demolished was also part of Manvers but became Castle College for a while. And as Bubblewrap says, it was the site of one of many brickworks in that area.
TBI 2,351
My cousin went to that school, late sixties, when it was Manvers Bilateral.
katyjay 5,091
I think Manvers school was for boys and Pierpoint was for girls. Maybe they merged when schools went Comprehensive.
letsavagoo 965
I believe that the demolished one is my old school namely Forest Field Grammer. It was the new building we moved to from the Stanley Road buildings in about 1968-9. I never warmed to it, in fact disliked it intensely and wasn't there long and left in early 1970. It may well have become some other named school later. Its ironic that the old building on Stanley Road remains to this day but the 'new' school is rubble.
parmitage 127
Yes Manvers was for boys and Pierepoint the girls. I was at Manvers for a short time in the 50s before moving to Trent Bridge and I lived on Handel Street and Ashley Street and walked to school. Best wishes Peter
