The middle of nowhere.

If nowhere has a middle it must be somewhere like this (Caithness). Photos taken on Friday afternoon:

Catfan: The way up is quite straightforward, just a little steep and distant. The walk from where cars may be parked is a round trip of roughly 7hrs. at our age. I was on the mountain called Morven which is just north of the border between Sutherland and Caithness.

It was a nice day yesterday so I took out the bikes for a ride.  As usual, I ended up in the middle of bleddy nowhere! The first picture is 'er indoors on her bike:

We were up in Sutherland last week. Loch Borralan, miles from anywhere. My sort of place.

Must learn to post pictures

PP: You should have let me know you were up this way - could've had a pint or three! did you stay at the Altnacealgach Inn?  That is about 2½hrs max from me.  I shall be over that way next week to climb Ben More Coigach.

Yes Compo, we were at the Alt. Only for 4 nights. Stayed there for a weeks fishing last year.

This was not a fishing trip because Mrs PP and our walking friends came along, however, I managed to pack the car by stealth with

electric outboard motor, 75AH battery, a charger, two fly rods, fishing bags, landing net, waders, wellies, fishing jacket festooned with scissors etc., and other bits and pieces.  Mrs PP asked why there was no room for our normal travel luggage, so I blamed taking her large folding chair and the bbq for the lack of space.

I was a good boy though and took Mrs PP to all the places that we used to stay at when our children were young. Gairloch, Altbea, Altas, Lochinver and the stunning coast of Drumbeg. I had a couple of short afternoons on the loch and caught plenty of trout. I will be going up there again to do some proper fishing.

From Ben More you will see my favourite Lochs - Veyettie, Cam and Uragil. Fished them all 40 years ago and last year.,
