Jill Sparrow 9,574
Welcome, Blakey! There must be a few of our members who were around your neck of the woods. My family had friends on Woodbridge Avenue and Farnborough Road. I'm sure someone will be along shortly.

Blakey 1
Was in Kenyon House - I think harris housemaster. spent most of the time playing footy - i seem to remember loads of games all going on in the playground at the same time using tennis balls and coats/bags for goals. Beekay 4,275
I used to know a Blake family when I lived on Denton Street, back in 1957. Obviously not the same bloke. I used to go to Douglas Road school with John Blake and he had a younger brother, David. Wonder where they are now. Any way, Welcome to the group Blakey.

Cliff Ton 9,955
Hague Terrace was in the Meadows, off Orange Street.
mary1947 1,879
Thanks Cliff I know Orange Steet as my dad was from the Meadow 's and his side of family were also Meadows folk.
Blakey 1
Hague Terrace was in Radford near Denman Street - i think - i was only
Beekay 4,275
I lived off Denman Street for fourteen years and I've never heard of Hague Street. Mind you, what do I know. C.T. reckons it was down the Meadows area.
Cliff Ton 9,955
Hague Terrace was in the Meadows.....but based on what Blakey has now said, I've looked a bit further afield. There was a Hague Street in Radford, running between Bramcote Street and Ilkeston Road (not far from St Peter's Street). And there might've been a Hague Terrace there....but I can't prove it yet.
Beekay 4,275
That would explain why I'd never heard of it. I lived towards the top of Denman Street. Furthest down I knew of properly was Norton street, although I made a fair few trips down to Andersons pawn shop on the corner of Forster Street in my time, also down to the paddling pool on St.Peters Street. Cliff Ton 9,955
I knew I'd find something eventually. A collection of photos including one showing Hague Terrace off Hague Street, Radford. https://picturenottingham.co.uk/image-library.html?keywords=hague&showall=1#PN-NTGM000580
Beekay 4,275
Thanks for the pictures C.T., but I have no recognition of this area, despite trying to recall the streets. Do you suppose there could be an old map somewhere? I find it most intriguing, even though the post was nothing to do with me. Thing is, whenever I read about Radford, Denman Street and area, I go into memory mode and try to recall past events.
Cliff Ton 9,955
This is the area in the 1920s. Hague Terrace is arrowed. The road along the bottom is Ilkeston Road. The 'Chapel' top left is still there. https://goo.gl/maps/8XFseQhbAAnrVg2c9
Jill Sparrow 9,574
Fascinating stuff! I knew St Peter's Street well in my childhood and it has changed beyond recognition but I remember that chapel.
