littlebro 234
Statutory maternity leave should be cut from nine months to six to give fathers more paid time off to spend with their children, a watchdog has said. The Equality and Human Rights Commission said it wanted to see more sharing of paid leave between parents. Mothers get nine months' paid leave while fathers get two weeks, making arrangements in the UK the most unequal in Europe, the commission suggests. Are they are going to backdate this? - about 28 years! I can't wait for the holiday!

poohbear 1,360
Admirable to want to spend more time with your kids...but why should those who choose not to have them have to pay taxes to support parents?
Beefsteak 305
Because their parents were paid when they (The folks that don't want kids) were born !!!!
littlebro 234
I agree PB., moreover, how is a firm to survive if there is a baby boom in any particular team, notwithstanding the cost. The system is a mess,
Beefsteak 305
I reiterate, the parents of all were paid maternity leave themselves. So if it was good enough for your parents , why isn't it good enough for the parents of my kids ???

Ayupmeducks 1,730
If all companies ceased employing employees, and made everyone who worked for them independent contractors, all this stupidity would be "nipped in the bud" Each person would be responsible for putting a little each week away to cover their holiday pay, taxes etc and companies would save a small fortune. Strikes would be a thing of the past too!
