Limey 242 Posted October 26, 2011 Report Share Posted October 26, 2011 When I first joined Nottstalgia, I thought it was just another chat forum with folks sharing their memories and experiences of growing up in and around Nottingham. Interesting, but not exactly earth shattering! However, in the last couple of years I have come to realise it is much more than that. Nottstalgia has developed into one of the largest on-line resources of information and anecdotes about the Nottingham area. Don't believe me - look at some of the statistics! We AVERAGE about 1500 page loads per day! We also AVERAGE about 350 NEW visitors per day - but why do they visit? Fortunately, Google give us the ability not only to see what people were looking for when they visit, but also where Nottstalgia ranked in their Google search. What is amazing is how often we are in the top ten, but also fascinating to see what people are searching for when they end up here. Some examples of recent searches - I have also listed the ranking of Nottstalgia in the search result: Picture house nottingham - 4th rudetube bouncer on crutches - 1st Nottingham palais de dance - 3rd miall street radford - 5th Nottingham Empire Theatre - 3rd Arnold milkman murder - 1st Motown night Nottingham - 3rd Graham Neal murder - 1st Jury service contact in Nottingham - 10th Nottingham to Lincoln road map - 1st Sisson & Parker - 2nd Water rates Nottingham - 1st Carlton Forbes - 3rd Scala Cinema Ilkeston - 11th Ainsley estate Nottingham whats it like to live there - 1st Duncan McCracken - 3rd Ad Lib and Kool Cat Nottingham - 1st Mount Street Bus Station - 2nd Swinging dodgy catchphrase - 2nd Why cant a ice cream van park on Farnborough Road in Clifton Nottingham - 1st Sweets from the 60s - 6th Indian restaurant Glaisdale Drive Nottingham - 5th Eland Arms North Gate Basford Nottingham - 1st Wharfedale Super Linto - 2nd When did ABC Cinema Nottingham shut down - 1st What caused the Nottingham riots 1831 - 8th Old St Anns Nottingham - 9th Meadows Nottingham map - 3rd Nottingham historical maps - 4th Nottingham expats forun - 5th The Palace and the punks - 6th That is a sample from the last 12 hours! I think it is pretty interesting that folks looking for everything from loudspeakers, to riot information, maps and sweets finish up at Nottstalgia. I think we should congratulate mick2me on having the vision and courage to create this site and stick with it over the years. It really is an amazing historical resource - as well as a great place to hang out! However, I do wonder why a question about water rates places us as the first place to look!
