  1. Also Cherry B or snowballs. I was quite ill with too much cherry b one night and remember asking the guy in the MGBGT (who I was trying to impress) to stop the car on the bridge so I could be sick over the side. Not exactly the result I was hoping for!
  2. Goodness Barley Wine, don’t think any ever passed my throat but my sister in law loved it, usually in the Flying Horse where she met my brother. The rest is all history as they say.
  3. I was at WB County Grammar, just spent the 6th form there when it went comp. What a cracking school, loved it.
  4. Outdoor ones are bad enough with my eldest cat! A rocket has just hit my upstairs window, fortunately no damage as the stick was 40 inches long. How is that safe in a residential area?
  5. I can remember indoor firework that you used to set off in a box of sand
  6. I can remember going to the AA HQ for maps with my dad. We still have one of those AA badges that you used to have on the front of your car.
  7. Beekay you’re always kind and help people out and as I say that’s all that matters. You’re entitled to have a rant, sorry if I instigated that. Mrs B
  8. Beekay you need to go on “Long lost family” doesn’t matter where you came from, it’s what you are now that matters.
  9. Beekay, as you know I haven’t been on here for very long but you always make me laugh and have been very helpful when I’ve had my ups and downs with pics and not doing stuff quite right when I first started. Don’t ever feel that you’re not accepted you’re an absolute star as far as I’m concerned.
  10. Lizzie, I think I would believe the LEICS and Rutland Wildlife Trust where the warning came from. I think it’s the amount that are put out that’s the problem.
  11. There is a warning locally not to put Halloween pumpkins out in woods and think you are doing the animals a favour. Hedgehogs, badgers and foxes can die or have serious stomach upsets because of the fibrous pulp that they’re not used to.
  12. Talking of plastic flowers can anyone remember the plastic flowers that used to come free in a packet of Daz?
  13. That’s because it’s Bliderth Phil.
  14. My father was an Andres Liver Salt addict. As kids we used to add some to orange to make it fizz
  15. Hubble (ex RCT/RLC) was stationed there towards the end of his 22 year stint, driving for the “boss” . It was great for us as a family as it’s just round the corner from home.
  16. Love the expression on Whattsup’s face nonna. It’s a bit like “yeah I’ve heard it all before”. Just booked a short break in Florence in May 2023, my favourite city, so much so, we named our cat after it!
  17. Hooray just found out that the car is fixable and the insurance co are ok with it so a bit of good news! Very pleased.
  18. MargieH. That is a typical women response to knowing you’re possibly “out of action” for a while, doing all the housework jobs just in case. My job when I know that is usually sorting out the freezer and making sure there’s enough food in there.
  19. Congrats PP for Friday and Saturday. Sounds like you had a good time. “Keep on trucking”
  20. Goodness, Harlow Wood. I can remember my Aunty being on traction there in the 70’s.
  21. I can remember the thick orange juice and Minadex tonic.
  22. I had a Saturday job at Boots on the corner of Wheeler Gate and used to spend my lunch hour in The Flying Horse. “American Pie” Don McLean always used to be on in there.
  23. My best friend at school ended up with no qualifications at all(a lot due to really bad glandular fever in the final year). She went to work at the George after school, living in and it all seemed very glamorous to me at 16. I asked my dad if I could go and work there too and the response was pretty adamantly NO! I can remember writing about it in my 5 year diary (they were all the rage at the time and had a lock and key) I went on to do A levels and took a totally different career course in aviation. Both of us did well out of our early work days when you never really know what you want to do
  24. Nonna you could make some of your felt masterpieces
