I REMEMBER the ' Hucknall air displays' Brian,on bank holidays in the 50s,when we used to picnic on Bulwell Common or Bulwell Hall Park.,for a great view.

Brings back memories in the 70s watching an air display on the old train embankments of bulwell hall just as you enter as if going to bulwell hall park , the Blue angels jets flew right over us , and my brother ran away with is hands over his ears , the noise as they flew over was so loud , the jets flew over , then the thundering scream came , blummin exciting that was !!!

Paulus, you must have lived in an end house? Our coal 'ole was the storage place outside that ran parallel to the pantry. The coal man [ikey Marshall from Basford] would have had to traipse through the kitchen to put the coal under the stairs. Consequently our under stairs was a 'glory 'ole' for the mangle, dirty washing etc.

We used to have a coal shed in the kitchen when we lived in bulwell hall  ( Grindon crescent )  incidentally i looked at that street on google maps doesn't seem to have changed since i left in 1974

Delivered to our door, was pop, milk, bread, meat, groceries, veg, newspapers, laundry. We also had a meat safe, it was built into the narrow pantry, wood framed with mesh on the front of it to keep the flies out, I'm guessing. The pantry floor was those red tiles that kept things cold too. Mum shopped just about everyday, despite all this stuff coming to the door!

Remember that bottled orange of the milkman ?    I love that stuff !

I’ve never owned a shotgun but I did use to borrow one from a farmer neighbour when we had a rabbit problem. They are nasty, lethal bits of kit. I’ve known two people who’ve committed suicide with a shotgun. I do have a couple of .22 air rifles which will easily pick off rabbits, squirrels and pigeons. One has a laser sight so it’s virtually impossible to miss the target. I don’t have the heart to kill anything these days though and I just do the occasional bit of target shooting.

How about when we'd buy staples at the hardware shop and fire them from a elastic band from our hands it bit like a catapult or gaddy as we called them .

For the younger generation what about 'Kerby' where you throw a ball across the road at the opposite kerb, if you hit it and it bounces back you got 1 point ,if it bounced back and you caught it you got 2 points?

    ;)

Yeah well remember that ga.e , how many times did it bounce and hit a car or go over a persons front garden ?

David, good to hear you’re ok and thanks for the PM. When I worked for British Midland our A330’s used to come over to Manila for major services (think it was the cheapest place as a bloomin long way to go!) The crews loved it of course.

    Keep safe.

I live in laguna which is southern Luzon, much more peaceful than the capital city Manila, and far less crime !

David there is a cd that you can get with all types of noise's on eg thunder, gun being fired, car'szoom zooming and lots of other noise,s on. You start the sound very ;ow and once your dog get's use to it you turn up the volume. You can go as loud as you want, but don't forget main things on your dog are it's nose and ears' They can smell 10 more than we do, ans same for the ears.

ps I am not sure it 10 is correct but thisjust gives example.

Thank you Mary , my other little dog Snowy boy is unfazed by the noise , i think my toffee has sensitive ears.
