The London Eye has been a brilliant idea...but it wasn't built in the middle of a recession.There are more important things for money to be spent on than this.Most of the world has more important things to think about than trying to encourage tourism from people who are lucky if they have a job let alone a holiday. And I agree Nottingham has been crap in the past at exploiting the Robin Hood legend...but now is not the time to do it.

So do I...spent many happy hours tiddler fishing in the shallow river.Huge hill of red clay and Roman artefacts turning up all over the place.It was a lovely place for families picnicking on a summers day.

I remember seeing one of these when I was a kid at Kegworth...next to the locks on the Soar at the bridge Kingston Road. With the price of drinks in pubs...especially soft drinks. The smoking ban (Over the top) Drink drive restrictions (Sensible) Booze in supermarkets (Irresponsibly cheap) And the recession.......this thread could be going for quite a while.

Some of the conspiracy stuff is quite convincing...but to falsify some thing like that would take hundreds of people in the know..from lighting crew to cameramen to cleaners to chopper pilots. Do you really think not a single one of them would have shot his mouth off or sold his story to the press over the years?

I heard earlier that any arsonists caught will be charged with murder...damn good idea.Over here they'd probably get an asbo.
