  1. 4 of the best years of my life spent there, the only downside was that I was introduced to smoking at 11 and have never stopped since. I suppose you call the new building "progress" but is it really? I wonder if they have to go down to the playing fields on Melbourne Rd to have a game of Footy and cricket these days? I can remember in my last year the careers officer coming to talk through what career I would go for....."Which do you want Lad, Pit or Hosiery Factory"....O' happy days, yes indeed!! Owdtite.
  2. I used to use the number 7 from Bulwell when I fancied a change from travelling on the 44 trolleybus, Hanley St was very handy for going into the big Co-op.. Brings back so many memories, thats what I like about Nottstalgia !! Owdtite...
  3. Do you mean Gordon Road in St.Ann's Ashley?......I spent many a happy day visiting my Grandparents down there when I was a small boy! They lived on Young St which I believed went onto Gordon Rd at the bottom. Owdtite.

  10. But Mick, Sue has a lovely cottage garden, I dont think they have them in Broxtowe do they (unless they have improved since I was there last)....And....she doesnt have a Hubby according to her first post, been divorced 10 years she said. I think she should put a photo up of herself before I seriously start to woo her!! I bet she's a cracker when the truth is known!!!...I feel a stirring in my loins !! !rotfl! !rotfl!
  11. Hi Rob, are you saying that Sue is not what she seems??? Do you think that Sue could be a Man in drag???? ...OMG, I was just about to start to chat her up and see if she wanted a free holiday in Scotland and for us to get to know each other better......Scuse me while I just go and fetch the sick bucket!!!!! !secret!
  12. I m confused here Sue, When you introduced yourself to the Forum you said you arent married, now you say you have a Husband who is going to don his helmet!!! I was going to chance my luck and start chatting you up when I thought you were single but now you state you are married. I dont want to waste my time chatting up a married Woman so come on, are you available or not?? I want to see if its true what the say about good Catholic Girls.... !yowza!
  13. Can I just say Sue that I think you are one heck of a brave lady tackling a job like that, most ladies I know run a mile at just the mention of the word Wasp!!! Were you not afraid of being stung at all?? You sound just like my kind of Gal if you dont mind me saying!!! Owdtite....... !secret!
  14. Hi Sue, I am sure I went to school with Alan Croome at Springfield Juniors on Bulwell Hall Est, the Croomes were a well known family in the St Albans Rd area of Bulwell, the one I remember very well was Janice. They also had a mens hairdressers shop on St Albans Rd and also a general grocers shop. Both were near the level crossing just up from Carey Road is now. Small world innit?? Owdtite....
  15. It has to be March 1947??....Mind you, if it wasnt for the vehicles I could say it was Caithness 2010... !tanning!
  16. Too much cloud up here again tonight, so thats the Northern Lights and now the meteorites that we have missed out on.....Snot fair!!! Owdtite.... flyswat
  17. Brilliant map Cliff, thanks for sharing with us. I was surprised also that it actually shows the railway station at Bulwell Hall Park, you dont see that on many maps. I remember as a boy being dragged around the city on saturdays and I coudnt wait to see the 44 trolley come into the market square and take us home to Bulwell. Owdtite.
  18. No Lights I'm afraid, too much low cloud but we did have a tornado the other day....hope I manage to post the photo ok!! Owdtite.

  20. All this talk of hotlinking and dodgy sites is all too much for me......I will stick with the St Georges flag if thats ok... Not used to all this technology stuff, I assumed it would be quite easy for someone with knowledge to add a smilie with a Scottish flavour...I really ought to learn more about PC's....lol Owdtite... !inthebin!
  21. Just come across this thread...brought back so many memories for me.....At the tender age of 20 my wife and I were given one of the maisonettes on Hyson Green, Ashburton Walk !!! Had about 3 years there and it was my daughters first home, (being born in the Firs while we lived there)...They were not too bad to start with but were overun with mice. But then came the Blues parties from the load of Black people that moved there, now these parties didnt just go on all night, they usually went on for a week, night and day...no sleep for anybody. One day I caught an Asian Guy backing into my parked
  22. The only memories I have of the Gasworks is the smell as I passed it on the 44 trolleybus from Bulwell into the city centre...I also recall my old Dad saying that they used to give the coke away for free in the old days cos no one wanted it. And I always used to have a guessing game when I went by on the bus how high the Gasometer would be....full, half or a quarter....always used to worry if it was low that we would run out of gas!!!!...lol Owdtite...
  23. !congrats! Dont panic Beefy, its all in hand. If the weather is good I will be out there with my camera and will post them on here...just got to hope the clouds lift... Owdtite..
