  2. ive been wondering what had happened to them but with so many changes recently its sometimes hard to tell
  3. quite a large group of parents grandparents and relitives of babies who had all died of cot death a lot of hard work fundraising by every one and yes it was a great amount of money raised but you would not belive the amount of people who belived then that these children were killed by one or both of their parents at one time when a baby died even the police treated the place were the baby died as a sceene of crime untill the postmortem had been caried out. many parents had an awful time i was very luck the police man who came to see us was attached to the coroners office and was very respe
  4. yes carni it certainly looks like it to me.i think when you remember it the building continued across the rd and you would not be able to see the top part of the rd from this angle,i may be wrong though.

  7. yes clifton its a lovely building the front door of the building is a double door now riddo so i supose itsthe way it was built

  9. do you mean wendys sales never went to one of her sales but know her from her shop in ilkeston and her stall had a few bargind if her repro french dresser 20 quid had it about 15 years now nice table and 6 matching chairs 15 quid at the end of the night dont think she wanted to take it back sold it to a friend who was desperate for one for 25quid
  10. i no long eat mcdonalds after getting food poisening from one of thier outlets i do sometimes go in to get a cold drink or use the loo. skeggy terrable for pulic toilets at the moment most of them being repaired inclouding disabled ones neare the beach compleatly fenced off ones near the station had to go round all the back rds to get to the ones near the market.
  11. ouse bride was only a small bridge lizzie it changed then disapeared compleatly whith all the new rd layouts when the loop rd went in as for the ouse dyke as we all called it had many a booty trying to jump it at various points up the dyke unlike you i anly had little leggs still do and i could never quite make it hence one or two very wet muddy feet.and that was if i managed not to fall backwards and land on me bum not too bad on a hot day but if it was cold staight home to get dry and change cloths end of play for that day get the tin bath out to get cleaninto clean cloths but i had to stay

  18. i think like tellevision there are things that one person would enjoy but not anothersome of the things my sons watch i think what a load of rubish but they think its great. on the whole i really enjoyed the film last night but did think it showed all the bad stuff of slavery i would like to have seen abit more of the slave commumity as a whole and thelife when they were not working.
  19. when i was working i often used to go to plyworks on the corner of north sherwood st and vickers st the building is opposit to the pride of erin pub and used to be the old parish hall and the factory that was behind it i wonder if any of you have any memories of it and what if anything it was used for then
  20. anybody been to the cinema lately and what did you see piggy and i went last night to cineworld, our first trip in about 20 years as we normaly buy or borrow a dvd we went to see 12 days a slave very impressed with the film and the cinema studio once we got in but not so impressed with its disabled facilitys before we went in long quees to get in no were to sit other than on the floors was told after that i could have took my scooter into see the film but thats no good after the eventand last night i had not got my scooter as it was in for a winter service. trailer on for new film advertized
  21. micheal i think all of us who lived near railways when we were young still like steam trains i love to watch and the smells asociated with them its the nostalgia of it i personaly no nothing about the engions or boilers and tracks etc but i know i like the lookof them.
  22. dont know what the shop was then as i have only lived here10years but is a veitarian bakers know they make some nice cakes date and walnut our favorite they sell it in single pieces as well as whole cakes

  24. in netherfield bamfprds dairy next to lindas toy shop used to make lovely ice cream that too had little bitts of ice in 3p i think and penny suckers orange or blackcurant flavours and of course jublies. when mr whippys ice cream men came down the st i would think mid to late 50s as soon as our dog kim used to hear the chimes he would be down at the bottom of the terraceand sit and wait for him to get there the driver would always make him a cone and some one would give it hi8m to lick but if no one was around he would drop it on the pavement for him to lick up he was always first at the van
