  6. Well, I stand corrected......... There were three cinemas in old St Ann's, the Flea Pit at the bottom of the Robin Hood Chase, the Cavendish, and the Empire on St Ann's Well Road. There was also the Victoria Ballroom (now Gala bingo hall), which at one time proved to be a major boxing venue in Nottingham. Courtesy of http://beehive.thisisnottingham.co.uk/defa...mp;PageID=42366
  7. I think the old cinema is now the Gala Bingo hall. The Mosque next door is a recent addition to the skylinewas built fairly recently - past 20/30 years http://www.gala-bingo.co.uk/find/LocationM...spx?BingoID=280

  14. Well, bu**er me for quoting........... The first one was the Chaucer Street hospital, as I too had my tonsils out there in 1956. The building is still there but obviously has new tenants. The second one is the current City Hospital.
  15. I have to concur with Beefy on this one as I was involved in the buiilding of the establishment. IIRC, it's on the left hand side as you drive down into Carlton Square. Opposite the road that comes down on your right hand side and meets Carlton Road at an obtuse angle. I seem to remember the architect specifying some type of brass letter box slot type grilles for the ventilation and we installed some above the bar. Never drank in there though.
  16. And remember - don't rely on the jack when you get underneath the car. use somat to make sure it can't lower it'sen while you are under it, such as wood chocks or somat similar. Preferrably axle stands.
  17. Hey, Carole I can still see the Pink wallpaper on yer livin' room wall !laughing!
  18. More than likely Katy, but the old grey matter isn't working at the mo. I'll have a word with a mate of mine to see if he recognises the name. I knew a couple of Alan's but the only Sherrell I recall was the landlord's (Arthur) daughter.
  19. The Hall Park Tavern is now reduced to rubble....... progress eh?? It was my 'local' for over 14 years. Won all my dart and later on, pool trophy's there. Played as a partner to Tony Matthews RIP.
  20. Re: Marshalls in Bulwell. My step brother Mick used to work there as his father in law was some sort of gaffer - Sid was his name - Don't recal the last name. My other step brother (Malc) was also employed there in the office and my brother used to work there as well. Small world.
  21. Just found this John. Visa Requirements for Holiday Home Owners There are no restrictions on purchasing a holiday home in the United States. What type of visa do I require? Many foreign owners of vacation homes travel to the United States as visitors either on B-2 visas or visa free under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Visitors under the VWP may remain for up to 90 days. This 90 day period cannot be extended, therefore, travelers who wish to remain for longer are required to apply for visitor (B-2) visas before traveling. How long may I remain in the United States? The period of val

  23. I've also looked into retiring to Florida and Notts Lad is right. As a non green card holder, you may visit Florida for 90 days per year under the Visa Waiver or Visa scheme. The first time you do visit, you can request an extention for a further 90 days, making it a total of 6 months. After the 180 days, you must leave US soil. Thereafter, you are only allowed to remain in the USA for no more than 90 days per year. If you abuse this by even 1 day, you are thereafter banned for life to re-enter the US. Paranoid or what?? Not much fun if you are retired.
