That answers one thing as I've mentioned the H&T appears in my 1898/99 directory but it does not appear in Kelly's of 1916

I can go back as far as 1832(White's directory)& the Horse & Trumpet was there at that date.

And he lives in Somerset

I've been back to 1899 & there was a Horse & Trumpet 49 Beck Street Landlady Mrs L Spencer Wrights directory 1898/99

Could be Horse & Trumpet? I've gone back to 1940 in my directories & can find no reference plenty of horses but no Trumpet
