  5. I went to visit the castle the last time I had a trip in to Nottingham to take photos. I seem to remember the gate man saying only City centre residents had one of those cards and that I would have to pay. I know it sounds tight but I didn't.....so ended up going round the Park Estate instead. Glad I did, lovely buildings to be found there.

  11. Has anyone else noticed the fact that three quarters of the Golds have come with the athletes sitting down! Eg: sailing, rowing, cycling, horse riding, canoeing, yachting........there's hope for me yet!! ( ps: Is there an event involving a tv remote control? )
  12. What do you reckon Stu? Another three Golds in the Velodrome?
  13. Agree Stu....if only Jonny Brownlee didn't get a 15 second penalty, it would have been Gold and Silver!!
  14. I'm watching the triathlon at the moment, wow, how tough does that look?
  15. This is my favourite time of year! Rufford Park, Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest....these are all lovely walks during the Autumn and Winter months..

  17. Compass Rose was featured in the 1951 novel " The Cruel Sea " and 1953 film starring those great actors: Jack Hawkins, Donald Sinden, Stanley Baker and Denholm Elliott. Riveting read and marvelous film.
  18. Thank's for the info guys. My all time favourite author has to be Laurie Lee. I read " Cider With Rosie " for my CSE English exam and fell in love with his wonderful prose. I have been lucky enough to have all three first edition books of his autobiographical works signed by him with " As I walked Out One Summers Day " and " A Moment of War " personally inscribed. I go with Alan Sillitoe as my favourite novelist...( of course! ).
  19. I don't know if this has been covered elsewhere on the forum. Is there a topic regarding your favourite authors and books?
  20. " The World Famous Supreme Team "......Duck Rock - great album
  21. Ahh, Sean Connery....playing a English spy, a Russian submarine captain, and a American cop, all with a broad Scottish accent....but still very good films!!!
  22. No, but I can guarantee that I would have fell over doing it!!
