  1. Violet Elizabeth Bott who would "thcream n thcream" till she was sick to get her own way, loved William's adventures. There was a small lending library near me in the front room of someone's house, there i found Agatha Christie and John Creasey i think i was the proverbial bookworm.
  2. Loppy reading your post brought back a memory of trying to bath our Staffie. We filled the bath with warm water got him in but he wouldn't keep still, my daughter got into the bath and shampooed him i told her to keep him still and would pour a bucket of water over him. You can probably guess what came next i threw the water dog jumped out of bath and daughter looked like a drowned rat. We went back to the old way which he loved the hose pipe.
  3. They are both lovely dogs, our Staffie came into our life hidden under our sons coat he knew once his dad saw the dog it was a done deal. Duke was with us for 14 years, the only problem with the breed is when out walking they have to be out in front, be it a few yards or a long as the lead will allow. I have no idea if all Bulldogs are the same but Silas will spend all his time sitting beside you fast asleep, an occasional snuffle to remind you to tickle his tummy. Don't you just love them to bits, one more little point in his favour he loves the cat that lives near us.
  4. To late on that one loppy, when i moved here he was distressed so i took him upstairs just for one night. Now when the lights go off he sits at bottom of stairs all ready for bed, i find that his snoring in an odd way gives me comfort.
  5. He is a sweetheart but looks bad tempered not many people bend down to fuss him before saying "is he friendly". I always say he's best left alone........
  6. This miserable little face means it time for a walk, he is so lazy.
  7. This one was used when I was young Blue and Green should never be seen without a colour in between, lime green/shocking pink endless choice.
  8. Unfortunately Nonna after waiting 2hrs to get into the house i went through to the kitchen to feed Silas and the backdoor was unlocked. Mum is usually fanatical about checking doors are locked so didn't look, they both found it funny.
  9. Sitting outside my house very bored as i am locked out and waiting for someone to come home and let me in........on the upside i logged onto NS and have spent the last hour hour reading the giggle pages from the first post. Lots of good ones but a special thank you to Compo, just as well not many people pass they may have thought i was "under the influence".
  10. Both Mum and Aunty worked at the local power station during the war, somewhere there is a photograph of them in overalls and hair tied up turban style. On their way to work they had to pass through a tunnel called "dead man's arch" they would stand at one end and shout, if no one answered they would run like hell.
  11. Thats a very long winded explanation to prove men don't listen to their wives, professor's excuse not mine.
  12. American professor has found that men don't ignore their wives when they talk and talk about nothing they are suffering from SCT. Will try and find article again.
  13. SCT.......look it up evidently it is something most if not all all married men suffer from.
  14. Someone may be looking for you........old ladyfriend ???
  15. Never thought of that, it would have been a very easy change as my name is Meg. Will stay as i am.
  16. Full of students.........
  17. My daughter was in Newcastle today, the Wetherspoon's she went into for lunch had nothing to indicate that it was anything but a normal day.
  18. There are times when i wonder about about the mindset of people. I have just been reading that a large group of people have tried to force their way into Alder Hey Hospital the reason being they do not agree with a court decision. It is one thing to voice your protest another to disrupt people trying to access medical help, upset other young children and cause their parents anguish. My opinion sorry if it upsets anyone.
  19. You'r kind words are much appreciated..........not
  20. Yesterday i saw a ladybird on the fence went to put in the hedge and its markings were unusual, to me anyway. It was larger than others i have seen on its back were four spots and two stripes at tip of wings any ideas.
  21. Test drive in Volvo was a good one may go for it, the main point i wanted to say was i mentiond sidesteps and said i didn't know anything about them. He looked at me then my car and said they are fitted on the Discovery no wonder they are nimble, in my defense i used to drive a mini.
  22. Have just had my BMW test drive i must admit it was a vanity drive just for me, but saying that i found it heavy on cornering. They have always managed to get in the Disco but sidesteps are something i would consider, my Volvo drive is tomorrow. We are having tea in Whitby and they say to tell you they are very nimble thank you.
  23. Commo, looked at the cars suggested by yoursel Brew and Phil, i have booked a test drive in a Volvo momentum and BMW X1. I need a car with lots of space and comfort for mum and aunty so will see it goes.
  24. Need a little help please, went yesterday to look at the Jeep Compas, the salesman treated me like a child and reeled off facts and figures. Basically is it a decent motor it will be used country more than town, i drive a Landrover discovery but maybe need something smaller. When i spoke to my son he said " ask your mates on the Nottingham thing you go on" so i have.
