  1. This is how I remember it being painted: http://www3.hants.gov.uk/heritage100/itemlist/item.htm?itemid=109
  2. Brickwoods Sunshine Ales! I have ridden on that bus many times to Hayling Ferry while on hols when I was a lot younger before and after 1968, but I don't remember it (or its mate) being painted that way round. The colours, crimson and white, so that the bus was painted more crimson than white. Must have been repainted at sometime or other - either that or my memory has been repainted. that bus is well over 30 years old in 1968 too. Was down there on a delivery this time last year and I thought what a horrible place it has become. No crimson and white buses, no Brickwoods and Victory has lost
  3. Hmmm! Vauxhall Velox on the left. The other seems to be a bit more Lada
  4. Is this a different Farmers? Not Henry Farmer?
  5. I have a customer now lives in Ashbourne originates from Bailey Street. Her name is Viv. No idea of her maiden name
  6. Thought about this. Last time I spoke to Barbara she referred to her Father as John, but my Mother always referred to him as Cyril. I never knew him. Last time I was in communication with Barbara (via Genes Reunited) her name was McArthy or McArthur. I have no idea how many times she has been married. I have had a quick look on Genes Reunited where you can request to see other peoples trees (I am not subscribed) She is using her maiden name of Raynor.
  7. He would have died in the 1960's and I would guess he was in his 30's at the latest when he died. His wife was Ann maiden name Seddon and has a daughter named Barbara. Ann may still be alive although well into her 80's now. She never remarried. Last time I saw her was at a family funeral probably 6 years ago. Unfortunately I have no idea how I would get in touch with either of them at the moment.
  8. I don't know whether or not there is any connection whatsover or even if you would have any interest but one of my mothers cousins married a Raynor and I am pretty sure his name was Cyril. I distinctly remember that he died young. They may have lived around Aspley
  9. Thanks. Found the probate date after I had zoomed on it. Its currently in my basket. I shall deal with paying for it later. I shall let you know what I find when I get it.
  10. Thanks I will do that. How do I find the date of probate and the folio number? He didn't exactly die a pauper did he with £270 in the bank in 1917. Probably owned the house on Derbyshire Lane too.
  11. Thanks Cliff. Just missing the red arrow! Thanks Commo. There is a good link on that website to children s homes too that I may find useful
  12. Edward Harvey 2 x Great Grandfathers death cert arrived this morning. It seems your information was correct but 97 Derbyshire Lane Hucknall. Now to try and find out more about his daughter Mary, my Great Grandmother, It seems she was in jail at least once!
  13. Just received my 2 x great Grandfathers birth cert. this morning and it seems that he died in Basford Workhouse Infirmary, on Highbury Road in 1917. Not heard of it before. There is another thread on here about Basford Isolation Hospital on Hucknall Road but that I think is something else. Anyone any information?
  14. VC-10's had Conways. I typed differently to what I was thinking.
  15. My Mothers fathers surname is extremely uncommon, in fact I would be quite confident that there is only one family of them in the country - Definitely only one family of them in Nottingham. But I still get a brick wall pre 1880's. Having said that I haven't been trying too hard with my mothers family yet as it is quite easy and a lot is already well known.
  16. One thing just leads to another. It'll end up costing me a small fortune in birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates........ etc
  17. It makes you think doesn't it. How do you find out who a father is when his name isn't on the birth certificate? I have the same problem with my grandfather. My father never spoke of his families past because of it. - and other revelations that keep turning up!
  18. This Mosquito was at a Hucknall air display must have been mid '60s. This is the one that crashed at an air display at Barton approx 18 years ago Scanned from 120 prints. The are some more I will post when I can find them
  19. Not seen anything of Compo either. No Facebook activity either
  20. Yes that is my Grandmother. My Father being Rex. That is how I know about the two brothers of my Grandfather Edward that lived at the other end of Melbourne Road. One of those was William, I don't remember the name of the other one but possibly John. I have spent plenty of hours at 25 Melbourne as that house was turned over to my Father's sister Edna in 1944. She remained there until the mid 70's when she moved to Bulwell.
  21. She did not die in either 1923 or 1945. They are my mistakes.
