  1. That seems a bit of a con. It's brewed by Oldershaws of Grantham with absolutely no connection to The Home Brewery. I lived until 1962 not far from the brewery and could regularly smell a waft of malt in the air on brewing days. The chairman of Home Brewery, Hordern Farr, used to live on Beck St. in nearby Thurgarton and his local was, of course, The Coach and Horses on Main St. I remember him being berated by local farmers for buying imported barley in preference to British because it was cheaper!
  2. They've been irrigating round here for ages in the fields by the Trent. They didn't even stop during the heavy rains. I noticed that in potato fields at Hawton, watering pipes were laid along the rows of potatoes. That must have been an expensive outlay.
  3. I expect you looked like deep fried Marge Bar!
  4. Despite conspiracy theories I’m certain there’s sufficient evidence to confirm that the Americans visited the moon. They did try to open a pub there but it failed to attract customers because there was no atmosphere.
  5. Not me. Never had a scooter, never wore flares.
  6. She does look extremely scruffy, even for working in the garden. She is presenting on television and it’s an insult to the viewers to appear like an unmade bed.
  7. No! It's not a case of disrespect. She needs to seek medical and psychological help and get herself sorted out. She's only 52 and she won't keep going for much longer in that shape.
  8. I try to stay in trim. I’m not obese. She’s probably had some psychological problems over the years plus a few drops of the demon drink.
  9. She does look a bit ‘Bulwell Wetherspoons’. Not very televisual.
  10. The neck’s probably too narrow!
  11. This is creepy. I’ve just had a buying suggestion from Amazon. A t-shirt with the slogan “Never underestimate an old man with a Mercedes Benz”.
  12. Well I'm just looking at 25 acres of it from my landing window. It's only a relatively recent crop around here. It's generally beet for Newark sugar factory, potatoes for Walker's crisps, barley for the breweries and oilseed rape. I did see a field of blue flax nearby last week which looked most attractive.
  13. The simple country folk round here practice ancient black arts. Its probably some fertility rite to encourage growth. There's certainly a fine crop of maize in the field over the lane. Don't suppose a few cobs will be missed.
  14. Antihisan! Not likely. He'll be sitting on the kamikaze all night!
  15. It’s quite hilly around that part of North Wales. Don’t go if you need to be on the flat. Very scenic though.
  16. My last car, F Type, didn’t have them and prior to that neither did my 911. Now I drive an old man’s car I need all the help I can get!
  17. I didn’t pee on it, I tripped over it!
  18. When I was out on a cross country run over the fields in Bulwell back in my days at Mellish, a guy with me peed on an electric fence (God knows why!) He got a terrible surprise!
  19. Pleased to see it back. Thanks to whoever sorted it!
