  1. Yes Lizzie we will enjoy it but at the moment it seems that its a " go slow period" Blocks were delivered yesterday presumably for the steps. They will be filling the polistyrene blocks monday ( providing it doesnt rain. The ground has to be raised quite a bit too to make it all on one level. At the moment the wall is open but as the pool will come halfway up the wall we have decided to build a solid wall so that its private. We are on a country road with hardly any traffic so its semi private but we dont want to be exposed to the tracters etc , especially at my age As for looking
  2. thanks caftan but I tried again and it won't work for me . Vodafone has blocked postimage telling me its an unsafe site and not private but I went ahead with it and ....nothing I want to find a reliable site although postage was great. any suggestions which?
  3. no luck this time either
  4. I wish Lizzie. The weather has put the jinx on it right from the start. But today at least the walls are up waiting for them to fill the blocks with cement , form the steps and level the base out to create a smooth finish , then the liner, connecting lights , and oh anything else that needs doing and fill in the surrounding area. The surrounding area has to be tiled when its all finished so will be quite a while. we were told by the end of may it would be finished By the way could you see the foto? It didnt come up on ipad so i deleted everything. It still comes up that its not a saf
  5. Today I heard that their confetti and bomboniere were being made in Italy. There were some beautiful arrangments. Do they suit or compliment each other? Mah
  6. In the village theres a block of apartments and a list of all the residents. The apartment block is nicknamed the zoo. Surnames...not joking. Bue. (bull) Vacca. (cow) can't remember any others but all names of animals.
  7. Yes Jonab our dogs stretchout belly flat on floors. Try it yourself in the middle of summer. Its very cooling and of course good for your spine. Everywhere in France or Italy where there is some sort of festival the place gets overcrowded. Here when its the palio , forget about going to Asti. Sunny and www warm sort of this morning. Pool people putting up walls and keeping their fingers crossed that it doesnt rain later. With a bit of luck they will finish placing all the blocks today.
  8. Awoke by the beautiful aroma of Mrs Cs baking at 9am this morning Sure it wasn't my baking you could smell . Made 3 dozen melting moments so with the wind here it would have taken the aroma to Bulwell. Hope you enjoy them ( Mrs C's I mean)
  9. You're not the only one its affecting, its the same here so if youve got bad weather we can expect it tomorrow or the day after. We have one sunny hot day and 3 of rain. Yesterday there was snow on the mountains and in the villages nearby. Went a short walk with the dogs and saw the amont of snow atop the mountains. I can't remember seeing it like that even in January. Our pool should be nearly usable now but its been delayed because of the weather. They keep bringing material but it stays there getting rusty. Meanwhile so are we instead of getting a tan.Thinking of going deep pool diving
  10. Carni the words to the song if you want to sing it. Non ho l'eta ( I'm too young) . " Non ho l'eta di amarti ( I'm too young to love you) Non ho l'eta di uscire con te ( I'm too young to go out with you) then .... I have nothing I can say to you etc yes its a beautiful song and still popular today which brings it home of the heartaches teenagers felt at the time when parents used to say they were too young . ¡
  11. no Mary I didn't know mrs Kinnel. Yes I too was sorry not to have spent time talking to you but just a couple of hours meeting its impossible to talk to everyone and not upset or offend the others and there were a lot of members.
  12. Mary I remember Peppers. Can you remember the rep that used to visit Mr Lambert. He lost an arm and had a hook that used to fascinate me. I wondered how he could manage driving his van. Yes Pendred hairdressing used to charge for taking on apprentices, dont think it even paid for the 3 yr apprenticeship and 2 years improvership. Hard going for a pittance of a wage. I wouldnt do it again would you Mary?
  13. Ian we have to travel into the centre of the village to drop bottles off. I hasten to add that the cats are strays that our next door neighbours feed. They do keep mice down though. They come in useful when they cut the corn and grain down though as the mice scamper everywhere. I have vases and tubs of flowers outside my front door and the cats have started sleeping in them and crushing them. I put smaller plant pots around the bigger ones and a wrough ironplant holder inthe centre of another one and then stuck unlit incense sticks all round. I dont buy plants for the cats to sleep in.
  14. I suppose everyones bins are emptied every 2 weeks but what gets me, not so much for the paper but the plastic and tins , after a while they begin to smell even in the winter you can imagine in the summer with temperatures up to 30+ The tins are always washed out but it doesnt alter the fact . We also have ( at the moment) 8 cats with at least 2 are pregnant so during the night if the rubbish is left outside we have to collect it all back again or else the bin men leave it. We are in the country so remnants also attract vermin.
  15. Same here our may day break was last week . Today starts the Wine Festival. Great trepidation earlier in the week forcast was rain and storms but sun has shined today so it should be a great festival. Unfortunately I cant go down as mums carer cant mum- sit. Not a parking space available . Shuttle going up and down. ( village is in two parts )
  16. Youre lucky to have bin men. All our plastic goes in plastic bags and is collected every 2 weeks. The paper goes into a yellow box and that is collected every 2 weeks. You can image as we get through at least 6 litres of water every day the amount of plastic we have is enormous even though we squash the bottles.
  17. Glad to see the sun today after about 5 days of non stop rain. Our "pool "is gradually filling up.........with rain. Pool people should have come after the may break to lay the base and reinforce the walls but theres a good layer of water at the bottom. We ve had to lay waterproof sheets all down the sides as one of the walls has already collapsed with the rain. Dont know how long it will take to dry out as they wont be able to cement the bottom.
  18. We dont have problems with internet its mobile phones that give us problems. We have vodafone revolution modem , so its ok if we have vodafone on phones but change phone companies and theres no or scarse signall . Vodafone for us with land line is convenient , we pay €35 per month, all mobile and land line calls are free to Europe and north America. We still pay €12 per month for our mobiles both with unlimited calls sms and internet
