Going through a supermarket the other day I noticed there were security tags on Virgin Olive Oil. At €21 per bottle I’m not surprised.

This morning I saw a car and. Hertz van just a bit further up the road. A woman got out with something in her hands that she pushed through the grate. She returned to the car and a tiny kitten ran out following her. I waited til she’d collected the kitten again and as she drove away I stopped her and asked if it was her kitten. She said she had seen it in the middle of the road and pushed it through the gate to protect it. At midday more or less we in Piemonte received an alert message . Only a notice about an early warning system that is now in use. Our phones rang a strange sound and this notice appeared. Cats aren’t my favourites because I’ve always had dogs but over the years we’ve had quite They roamed the area but always came home. Opened NS this morning to find an advert for BCS online shopping for exbrits. Occasionally we order for things we can’t find here and was just whisking through thinking if we order I only want tins of chocolates like I buy every year. When I first started ordering them they were about5-6£. I know all prices have increased but at €12.99 I draw the line. In Asti there’s a little group of cheap shops mixed in with better ones and there I found a shop called Action. They have everything including a couple of displays of chocolates and snacks. Food, heard this morning that my sisters in law are going into Asti to see the Sagra. It’s a food fair, procession of all the ancient agricultural ways of growing , preparing etc of food then there are stalls selling food. My sister in law said she was wanted to eat some donkey meat. I’ve eaten it before and even eaten sausages made from the meat. It was good. It was popular a few years ago but we don’t hear much about it now.

We have had the same or similar problem with a gas company. We have GPL( I know it’s different in uk but that’s what it is here) Years ago they installed a pellet stove which was fine until , My son and his family came to live upstairs. The house has 11 rooms and we only need a small ground apartment We divided the house so that we were all independent. The only thing that couldn’t be separated was the water supply but we found a way to make it work without any distress. We have the stoves serviced regularly but everytime they come they have to return because either they’ve left a valve open

Goats meat at Easter . We see this on a lot of menu’s . It’s not the older goats but the baby ones so it’s very tender. Only eaten it once and then felt cruel and guilty. In fact don’t eat much meat now there are so many different things which are a lot more tasty.

When I came here before we were married my mother in law made me so welcome and we sat down to a delicious meal. Afterwards I found out that it was rabbit in fact THE rabbit I was cuddling earlier that day. Didn’t know it ever was a delicacy. I’ll have to ask locally. Where was he in the south? I’m sure it wasn’t in this area as we have a lot of wild animals that the locals hunt in the season. Wild boar, miniature hares, rabbits and the small mountain deers. Chickens , everyone has them if they live in the country.

Shame Phil because rabbit is very popular here cooked in every way possible. But to each his own I suppose.

Phil I don’t know how long you had to suffer at our restaurant but I’m so sorry . I feel so sorry for you not to be able to enjoy all those Gourmet Evenings that were so popular and half Nottingham restaurants copied. I enjoy my Forrin food.

We had goats cheese at lunch time. Wrapped in Speck or even Prosciutto crudo. Grilled and served with drizzled balsamic vinegar. Delicious

Margie I will have to try the rice/pasta in a bottle for my daughters dog. We look after her when she’s at work ( lunch time and evenings). She’s used to being with company when she’s at home but when we’ve got her she’s a full time job. She’s a miniature pinscher and lets you know what she wants in no uncertain terms. Lately she’s been scratching everything, cupboard doors front door , kitchen door even the dish washer. I’ve been spraying her with water but even though she retreats it doesn’t stop her. She does mind water at all so a while ago we had to keep the gate to the pool firmly locked

Think I may have eaten them all Mary. I was born near the sea and my grandparents still lived there. I spent my school holidays every year with them. Grandad used to take me along the tide lines and rock pools hunting crabs , winkles , treading for eels etc . I adore crabs and ate so many as a child. My grandad used to go crabbing frequently and he’d bring a sackful home every time, he’d tip them out out onto the kitchen floor and mum said there’d be crabs running everywhere. Happy anniversary

My son when he was small and just beginning to learn Italian said to his auntie. My glue hurts . Collo is neck and colla is glue. He always went ahead with words he wasn’t sure about but my daughter always hesitated. Fortunately having their school holidays with cousins etc they soon had a command of the language and even understand the dialect. Italian in-laws live in France and their daughter lives in Scotland . Their children speak 3 languages and the youngest is only 6.It’s lovely hearing all these languages with a Scottish accent. I could listen to him all day.

My daughter used to go to the hoppystool. Myself learning Italian got me almost in trouble. I used to preserve a lot of veg and fruit. I always sterilized the jars but also added a “preservative”. That’s what it’s called in English but in Italian it means something else. ( a condom) was my face red when my husband pointed it out to me. It’s a good job the chemist had known me for years.

Loppy so glad you are ok and a long way from the floods. DJ 22 degrees at the moment is cold for us having gone from 39c down to 20c in one day is a shock to the system.

Mary a similar thing happened with my son but fortunately didn’t result in death.
