  1. Phil, maybe it's time for your claim to fame. Invent a new sherry based drink ! The young uns love weird concoctions. I'll start you off if you like, sherry and red bull. Don't know what you would call it though.
  2. That's good to know compo, it's something that's not wildly publicised, well not that I've noticed.
  3. When I was younger and living in St Ann's, i can still remember my/our phone number at the cafe, 54014 then they added another number to it. And for the life of me, i can't remember what the extra number was !!!
  4. What's that then? A bean on a crumb of toast !!
  5. Especially bacon sandwiches, only Brown sauce !!
  6. Its not like us but for some reason, we have to have the ac on at night lately.
  7. I never knew them, i was o only 14/15 used to go with uncle Mick in the school holidays (labouring i suppose) but had quite a few experiences with him. Just got to find the right thread to put them in.
  8. Yep, i stand corrected. Ode age does funny things to the memory (+a few drinks!!)
  9. Last I heard, nowt wrong with it!!
  10. Just saw this thread and thought I would add a little bit, when I was about 14/15 I went to Burton's with my uncle Mick(he was an electrician, working for, Marriott and Goodhurst, mapperley) to do some work on one of the freezers, and I was told that Burton's was part of fine fare!. The freezers were built to fit in the caves that were underneath. From what I remember, it was quite an elaborate setup. Wonder what's there now?
  11. Margie, i didn't say that all the songs had a story, but you could understand the lyrics, maybe not 'Fleetwood Mac 's "Albatross" . Thanks for the compliment, but I did remember the Max Bygrave song (i entered planet earth in 54).
  12. Maybe, but like i said, you could understand the lyrics, and in the "olden days" most of the songs had a story behind them !!. What you get now is, thumpety thump screech and yell with a bit of nonsense thrown in.
  13. At least you could understand the lyrics, not like the nonsensical drival you get nowadays!!
  14. Just a word of warning DJ, bamboo is the fastest growing grass. My neighbor had some in their garden and it totally destroyed their patio, slabs lifting ect. When I went round to relay the slabs, i couldn't believe the root system, they were thicker than my finger and a good way from the actual plant. It took considerable effort to get rid of the damm thing!!
  15. You'll soon have enough to build a full scale train set !!
  16. My father was, Harry, Geoffrey but always went with Geoffrey, my middle name is Jeffrey!, But I never use it.
  17. See, i told you it was Ben's marriage list.
  18. Sorry to be pedantic but, the above vehicles were going from 1961, released as a 'upmarket version ' of the mini.
  19. Here's one that really 'pees me off', folks who do their shopping in petrol stations, leaving the car at the pump whilst meandering around aimlessly, instead of moving it out of the way !!! So that the queue behind can get filled up, pay and be on their way.
  20. Not stopped, just integrated into the tv license. Have a look on tvlicencing.co.uk/how is the money spent.
  21. Looking at that list ct, i don't feel old now. My names not on it, you hoo. I reckon the girls list you got from Ben's marriage certificates !
  22. Sign of the times I suppose, I blame the EU. Any chance of an answer to my earlier question about the contractors please? Ta in advance.
  23. I might be wrong (i have been on many occasions) Brew, but doesn't the law in England say that you are guilty until proven innocent?. My point being, if the tv licensing goons want my money then why not give the option to explain. Like Jill said, emails to you,me or whoever, but with the message 'do not reply to this email '. A bit one sided for my liking !!
