  1. We'll be with you in spirit Nonna and thinking of you tomorrow. Take care.
  2. Another good reason for me not to like football Lizzie.
  3. Thought I made your day Noddy. Not going to sulk though. Take care.
  4. Absolutely Devine Jonab. Many, many thanks for posting the clip. B. Apart from bird watching, we have been trying to count butterflies on the little buddleia ( spelling) under our bedroom window. Peacocks, Red Admirals, Commas, Large whites plus Tortoise shells. A delight watching them while drinking our coffee outside.
  5. Ben, I still think the world of you pal. B.
  6. Dearest Nonna, just read your sad news. Please accept sincerest and deepest condolences from both Tina and I, to you and all your family, Barrie.
  7. Including on the roof outside my bloody bedroom window.
  8. Now that is really interesting Den. Don't know how I've managed all these years without knowing that.
  9. Could well be then that you got on one of my buses. So there you go,small world innit?
  10. To the best of my limited knowledge, nobody on this thread has been knocking this particular coastline. All have just been recalling past experiences and memories. I now happen to live near Brighton and Eastbourne, but we never go there as day visitors. My sister in law can't stand it down on the South coast because they're shingle beaches and no sand, ( not like Skeggy). I know Camber and Pevensey etc have sand so don't shout at me. But being a Southern Jessie for the last 33 years, given the choice between Brighton and Skegness, I would choose Skeg. Not that I would want to go to Skegne
  11. When staying at Chapel St. Leonards, our friends came to visit us and they told of a really good chippy, the "Linga Longa", on the jinglebells road. They were the worst chips I've ever tasted ! more like sticks of soap cooked in stale fat or oil.
  12. An addition to my post above, we decided to have fish n chips. We went in the chippie on the corner opposite to the clock tower, (can't remember the road name). We said we would eat inside, but it still came in a polystyrene tray and the cheeky bugger wanted to charge us 10p for a wooden spoon thing ! Have you ever tried eating chips and mushy peas with your fingers? In reply to Mess in the above post. He were lucky! my parents never took us on holiday, for reasons I'm definitely not going into on here. I was 15/16 years old before I saw the sea and that was when my older brother's mate
  13. I'm not knocking that part of the coast mind. But time was, a few years ago ,you couldn't go to the east coast without bumping into some bugger you worked with back in Nottingham.
  14. When I worked for NCB xray services, we did some private work down there for 3 months, every 4 years. We xrayed the China clay workers and tin miners (that were still open then). First time, it rained every day though not all day. But still a beautiful area. I couldn't get over the colour of the water when crossing the Fal. The thing that struck me was that in Cornwall you could look in the sea and see 2 or 3 metres down, whereas at Skegness you lost your feet when only ankle deep !
  15. Been to St.Mawes Phil, a fabulous place. Especially liked the little ferry over to Falmouth. Just up the road apiece is the beautiful spot of St.Just in Roseland, with that wonderful little church. Such a peaceful place to walk round. Thanks for the reminder. I have to agree with you, Skegness is best when driven through. Was bitterly disappointed when we made a nostalgia visit about 10 years ago.
  16. Take a photograph PP. Show us all what we're missing.
  17. That's it then Trogg. We could form the M.O.G. club, (Meldrew Old Gits). We could sit around somewhere and complain about everybody who passes by or the state of the weather etc. Or little kids playing football near us. (TONGUE IN CHEEK FOLKS!)
  18. Maybe we should start a club Trogg. Exclusive of course. Do you like knitting Cherub?
  19. That's summat else, not bin tossing fer ages.
  20. Cheers pal ! More power to yer elbow. Glad there's a few of us left. Although I've got to admit, I'd watch owt at the moment, after being in isolation for 122 days. Really fed up with all these repeats. Running out of things to paint. Take care mate !
  21. Wrong subject for me mate. I'd rather talk about the Falkirk wheel or the Clyde at Erskine bridge.
  22. ???? I couldn't give a toss whether Forest get promoted or disbanded. I'm one of the few people in England who cannot stand football ! Yet its on the bloody telly every night. 'Match of the sodding day'.
  23. Surely Nonna, if you don't need it, why bother making it?
  24. Sure your name ain't Joan D'Arc little sis?
  25. With a name like King, where does that leave me. I don't want Jill Sparrow chasing after me wiv a gag, or worse still a guillotine.
