FLY2 10,109
Great version of Tattoo'd Lady and an awesome rendition of Shadowplay. I will just relate a few quotes from other famous "stars" from Rory's era, Fin Costello ( photographer) In the course of a 35 year career photographing most of the biggest rock bands of the era, I saw and shot many great performers such as Mick Jagger and Robert Plant, but none were a touch on Rory Gallagheri in the way he connected with his audience. Many of the artists he shared the stage with were in awe of the rapport he had with the fans and dreaded going on after him. Peter Frampton (Humble Pie) To be able to play like that with such intensity was awesome. He was a real credit to music, and pushed it to a new level altogether. Andy Powell (Wishbone Ash) We were in awe of his ability to play like that. He was a real "road hog" and toured constantly, I guess that lifestyle affects us all in a different way. It is sad that he died so young but then wouldn't we all love to leave such a legacy and reputation when we go. We need more like him. Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple / Rainbow) Rory was probably the most natural player I've ever seen. In all the gigs we did together I don't think I've ever seen him play the same thing twice. He was the ultimate performer. Ronnie Drew (The Dubliners) He was the quietest man I've ever met. So unassuming. He didn't have this over confidence that the mediocre have. He had the quiet way the great have, and he was that. Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) Rory's playing was so natural that the guitar just seemed to be part of his hands. He will be well remembered. What more can I say "The Ultimate Performer" indeed. We love you Rory.
FLY2 10,109
Just played the 11min 38 sec version of Shadowplay from Montreux. Look at 9.40 where he picks up the guitar, and instantly he's straight on as though he'd never stopped . Amazing
Michael Booth 7,364
'Walk On' by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee was recorded in 1961 on the 'Blues Is My Companion' album. One guitar, one harmonica and two mics are all you need for playing the Blues.

PeverilPeril 3,286
Remember seeing Big Bill Broonzy at the Albert Hall 1959/60. Just him sitting on a chair playing his guitar and singing the blues. I was moved.
