philmayfield 6,134
'Tank top'? More like an 'armoured personnel carrier' top for the elderly. Or would that just be for the ladies?

Jill Sparrow 10,306
You've inspired me, Oz. One of my parents' favourite songs was Dancing in the Dark (Fred Astaire). As it was a foxtrot, it was also one of their favourite dances. I've adapted it slightly... apologies to Fred! Dancing in the dark. Til the tune ends Ben's dancing in the dark. With a new friend. She met him in the cheese queue at Marsden's, dear! And it's quite clear She wanted more. Looking for a thrill. Paso doble. They tango round the till. Past the flyspray And face the bacon slicer ... together! Dancing round the cheesewire...in the dark! What the heck was that? It sounded like a crack! I've stubbed me ruddy toe! Let's forget the merengue And shimmy down to A&E Where they'll say... Serves you right for dancing in the dark! Looking for the light switch. Ben's hoping for a tight clinch But all she says is "How much for t'stilton, duck?" Out of luck. "Me husband's snap!" And she grabs the greaseproof wrap. Then slams the door. Spurned, Ben throws 10d In the till and he's All alone again Should have asked our Jill "D'you fancy The Black Bottom...in the dark?"

Jill, Yours is way better than mine, glad that Ben has a sense of humour. Sort of reminds me of the shop boy that sat on the bacon slicer, got a little behind in his orders.

MargieH 7,600
@benjamin1945Sounds like you’re arranging a meet up - can any Nottstalgians come or is it private ? Maybe D should go with you to protect you (in your Cuban heels) from any female wannabe groupies….
Jill Sparrow 10,306
I'll take a raincheck on that @benjamin1945 I was there yesterday. Got other things on today. Just make sure your Cubans don't fall apart, like that other pair of dancing shoes you bought a while ago! You'll need them if we're going dancing round the bogs!
philmayfield 6,134
I think walking in Bulwell Bogs wearing Cuban heels might attract the wrong sort of followers!
Jill Sparrow 10,306
Ben will be wearing the Cubans, not I! From the size of some of the inhabitants I saw yesterday, if they all started dancing the tango, I think the effect might register quite strongly on the Richter scale! philmayfield 6,134
I think 1961 was the last time I set foot in Bulwell Bogs. No fatties in those days!

Jill Sparrow 10,306
My uncle always seemed to be playing Standing on the Corner, Watching All the Girls go by whenever we went to visit dad's parents in Beeston. I think it was the only record he possessed! It would make a good theme song for our Ben! Except....he did a lot more than stand on corners and watch!
