When I was last in Nottingham, going up Mansfield Road I was passed by a Porche that had SHEIK (driven by a,,, erm,,, coloured gentleman)

Here in Penzance we have a MOON (constantly being picked up by the fuzz,,,, painful I know !!) cos it's more important to do this than catch real criminals.

I always remember the milk float that used to park up the road at the side of our house ( outside a house where the woman was getting more than just milk ).....LEG77. ( was there for hours every day after 'he' had gone to work ) was talk of the mothers of the estate

Whilst in the Isle of Man a few years ago , we went on a coach trip arond the island, the regestration number being ....... MAN 111D.. I suggested to the driver that he could flog it to Man U with three carefully placed screws

I first became aware of personalised number plates in the late 50's. Gerald Nabarro, a Conservative MP, drove a car with the reg. NAB 1. and he also had seven other plates NAB 2 up to NAB 8. As I got older and bought my first car, a Vauxhall Wyvern, I thought about getting my own personalised number plate for it. Naturally, I wanted MB1 but when I found that Max Bygraves had turned down half a million pounds for it and an undisclosed amount from Mercedes Benz, I realised I wasn't going to get it. Max did eventually sell MB 1 just before he emigrated to Australia to be with his family. I've since found out that it now belongs to a chap who won £5.3 million on the Lottery.
