  1. Have you checked the Nottingham archive centre, I have just done a quick catalogue search and there does seem to be quite a lot of info from the time it was planed and built.
  2. looks as though they are robbing Peter to pay Paul if tonights news is right.
  3. Visited Cuba a few years ago and Havana was full of them from the pre revolution years, god knows how they kept them running. I hear that they could be disappearing though because of some new laws which will be a shame as they are quite a tourist attraction.
  4. Yes The chairman stated last season that it would be difficult to stay within the financial fairplay rules and I'm sure you are right and that these transfers are to do with that difficulty. I'm sure Stu Pearce would have been aware that the club policy would be sometimes be affected by the new rules.
  5. Back in 2005 after a heart attack I was asked to attend cardiac rehab at the Derby Royal, after the first time I refused to go because of the outrageous parking charges. However I rang the people concerned and they offered me Ilkeston community Hospital which was only a 15 minute drive away and would you believe parking was free. Their canteen was second to none also with sausage and bacon cobs all well priced, in fact all the stuff they were telling us not to eat at cardiac rehab (Lol)
  6. I went in The 8 Till Late just the once on the night when I had just been up to firs maternity hospital to see my wife and our newly born daughter that would make it Dec 28th 1970, went to find an old mate to tell him I had become a father. It didn't have the same atmosphere as when it had been the Dungeon or maybe it was me and I was just not the same person anymore.
  7. I enjoyed every minute of the games, not only are those athletes our young people they are they are some of the very best of our young people, if I get to old and crabby to celebrate their achievements they can put me under the Sod.
  8. Have to be honest The picture on post 94 of Pilcher Gate brings no memories at all of the Belvedere's location, still it was a long while age and I only went after dark.
  9. Went to see the late Bernard Manning there sometime in the nineties, The venue was termed a "Gentlemans evening!" leave you to guess what else was on as well as Bernard. Remembering some of the things being called out there were not many gentlemen there I can tell you.
  10. Having a name Like Mike Read has raised a few comments but I have never been mistaken for either the DJ or the late comedian.
  11. If they ask you to do Cardiac Rehab after I would make the effort and do it, those people will make you feel like an eighteen year old. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
  12. Just Realised I have passed my 1000th post, taken a long while but who cares!!
  13. Don't Knoiw who she is but I would defend her with my life! Wish I had grandchildren!!!
  14. Sorry! I never got as far as the Huntingdon street half just a quick fly by with my barrow on Lower parliament street.
  15. Love them or hate them they are one hell of a sporting nation! It always feels very special when we beat the Aussies at anything.
  16. I remember them on Lower Parliament St as I posted, Clifton's pictures seem to bear that out
  17. Watched the Marathon this morning I thought the Aussie Michael Shelley showed a rarely gutsy performance to win against the usual dominance of the Kenya's
  18. I had thought it was MG but it was a long while ago and the thought of owning a car back then was just a pipe dream.
  19. There is a time and a place for it as benjamin1945 says but certainly never in mixed company or in front of children.
  20. If the coal is wanted and its cheap to get by opencasting then eventualy they will have it no matter what objections are raised. I live on the Notts Derby coal fields not far from the old Pye Hill pit and over the years there have been many opencast projects Smotherfly I think was one that covers quite a big area. there was a massive spoil tip at Pye Hill I used to walk past it every day back in the seventies you would not even know there was a mine there now apart from the old entrance that led to the mens canteen.
  21. My Daughter dropped the rent when this guy was down on his luck and on benefits something I did not agree with at the time, but having been a student and living in rented accomodation herself she took a different attitude. You Live and Learn!!!
  22. My Daughter owns a property in the next village and about three years ago decided to rent it out as she went to live nearer to where she works in Northhamptonshire. The tenant moved out about a month ago and my daughter decided to rent it through an agency, imagine the shock when they rang to tell her that the house would have to be cleaned and redecorated because of the state the tenant had left it in. It is costing several hundreds of pounds to put things right and I look like spending a week over there sorting out the back Garden. I used to feel sorry for tenants who lost their deposits wit
  23. Very well done! they must be so proud of you, I remember I was when my own daughter got her degree.
  24. It was in 64 but you are right they were the ones.
  25. Came of the golf course after fifteen holes this morning forgot to take water with me. I should know better.
