  3. The south Notts buses were blue and maroon and the midland general were cream and blue - I think ! I used to sometime catch the F4 from school( Beauvale estate hucknall post office ) and get off outside my house on sandy lane. It was actually quicker to walk through the allotments and down garden road but those satchels were soooo heavy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. The inner bypass is well on its way now. It will cut so much traffic back from the high street. The old Lakes chemist at the bottom of annesley rd has gone and it cuts through titchfield street just below Wilkos, then Albert street car park and comes out through station road car park (not a lot of car parks left now). They've also knocked a couple of houses down on Woollaton street. Causing havoc with roadworks but hopefully it will all be worth it, after all it's only taken about 20 years to start it Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. The Nottingham building society is no,longer in that building, they closed it down about 5 years ago and moved everyone up to the upper parliament street branch and then they moved their head office to Huntingdon court on Mansfield rd Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Only place I wouldn't r commend is the Wine Bar but only coz it's a dump, we tend to stick to The Pilgrim, The Plough (recently refurbed) H20 (sometime have bands on) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  14. yes HippoGirl it was Fred Knott. we thought he was iffeminate but he was a married man (i think) gosh he had the micky taken out of him - some kids were so cruel
  15. I was born 1960 so only a year older than you. My dad was a paratrooper in the 6th airborne. He rarely spoke about the war and he was the most mild mannered man you could ever wish to meet. My mum said he used to wake in the night having had nightmares about finding dead bodies in the side of the road. Mum was, funnily enough, the disciplinarian of the family, in fact she used to scare my mates sh**less!! So he didnt make any rules in the house and I always wondered if that was why he was so laid back, because he had been subjected to the strict rules of the army for so long
  16. ah ok, Annesley Rd had changed so much now. it used to be a busy little shopping area in the 60s and 70s but its a bit of a mess now

  19. Still called 'the wine bar!' Still awful!!! They've finally started building the inner bypass making it impossible to drive around hucknall without getting stuck at some roadworks somewhere. They've knocked down the old Lakes chemist at bottom of annesley rd and it's going through titchfield street, Albert street, Woollaton street and coming out on station road. Mayhem!! 23. I vaguely remember this nightclub in Vic Centre but what's there now? I remember the entrance being on Milton street but it was down lots of steps so is there something in its place or is it just used as storage ? I'm thinking Gap is somewhere around there now
