  1. My married name is Allsobrook , another version , but our clan is from Burton on Trent where the name originates
  2. Stewart is my brother. Now lives in costock. Roger became a teacher, Stewart a dentist
  3. Vince Dickens dance school was first upstairs over old Fords store, where the Pilgrim Oak is now. When this was demolished to make way for the co-op stores (and ultimately Pilgrim Oak) vince Dickens moved the school to upstairs over the trustees savings bank on the corner of vine terrace . He had an old lady helping him in the late 60 s ( I think it was his mum) . I don't know when the school closed down though
  4. Anyone remember Stewart Drage, Roger Beharall?
  5. New co-op supermarket been built on the site of the flying bedstead pub, hucknall. There's also one half a mile up the road and one on the road out of hucknall. We are swamped by co-ops now.
  6. Can't remember a lot about annesley road, although it was a lot busier than it is now. I remember on the left going away from high street there was the back of the co-op , there was a fish monger called 'fishy Taylor's' and I remember David's bread shop and greenhalghs shoe shop . Opposite I think there was a cobblers called Hargreaves? That's all I can think of.
  7. There was a chemist on watnall road called Harmons in the 60s . The Flying Bedstead wAs demolished and a new Co-op now stands there. The Masons Arms pub has now been demolished and I have heard they are building a sainsburys local there - right next to another Co-op !! Supasave supermarket was in the old church on the corner of watnall road and beardall street, opposite clem munks garage. Please share more memories. I find it fascinating
  8. We've had Virgin for 4 years now and not had a problem with it. It doesn't turn itself off ( although we had a new TV in January , an ' LG ' one and that turns itself off after it's been on about 5 hours) but the Virgin TiVo box stays on all the time. Think it may be your TV. Ours comes on immediately even if it's not been on for a day or so
  9. I didn't live there, my ex husbands family did. Gladys was his grandma. She moved from the sweet shop to deptford crescent then to Hucknall in the late 90s. She passed away in 2000
  10. Ah it was Cosford. I remember they called him cossy. Think maybe his mum was a truswell before marriage to a Cosford
  11. My ex husbands grandma (work that one out) was a Truswell from Forest side Bulwell. Married a Deller and owned a sweet shop somewhere on forest side/opposite Adelphi cinema and I think Roland was her brother or nephew
  12. Was the barbers name Roland? I know there was a barber with that name from bulwell but not sure if it was that one
  13. Yep ( well Leics border). Born in Hucknall, went to Henry Mellish then Guys Hospital London but came back to Nottingham and has lived here in various villages since.
  14. My brother Stewart Drage has just retired from being a dental surgeon since the 70s. He had surgeries in Bramcote Lane, Derby Road Lenton opposite the Savoy Cinema, East Leake and I'm sure somewhere else but can't remember ! Saved me a fortune over the years and if he ever hurt (which he never did) I always knew I could wallop him!!
  15. I've downloaded plane finder but can't for the life of me work out how to use it.
  16. the Bedstead is now no more, all gone, and they are building a new Co-op on the site

I only came to one meet up and that was back in late 2011 I think believe it or not. Lots happened. Split with fella, found a new one and getting married this December !! That all sounds a bit of a rush, we have actually been together since February 2012
