babs, can you imagine the pleasure and comfort you gave your elderly teacher because of your meetings. I would imagine that it was a very special time for her and that she'd enjoy having a sandwich and coffee whilst having a nice chat to her ex-pupil. I'm so pleased that she met up with you again and saw the success you'd made of your life.

I wonder how much it would cost for someone or company to do it for you?.

denshaw, I'll let you know tomorrow when he retired although I think it was before you started. His name was Arthur but everyone knew him as 'Mighty Fine'.

babs, I think you may be refering to 'Maggies Blue Suede News'.

Great photos again, Beefsteak.

Pixie, I also initially thought it was a dead frog that had been cut in half by the lawnmower...lol. I have lots of frogs and newts in my pond and they kick up a racket when they are mating.

Yes, your correct taxi ray. I remembered the hotel as I was reading the topic and sent my post on the spur of the moment.

Albert Smith, when did you live on Brand Steet?. I lived in Grainger Street until 1960.

If I was a phone I'd hate to be going to your house because I'd be battered every five minutes....lol

My youngest son never achieved anything at school as he was always bored stiff with it. After he'd left school he went on to get his Law degree with honours and Management and Business degree. My eldest son achieved nothing at school and went on to be a qualified joiner and my daughter, who had a couple of 'A'levels is now a Senior Manager in education. It just shows that parents shouldn't look on their children as 'failure's' because they don't do so well at school.

The GCE was originally introduced in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in 1951, replacing the older School Certificate (SC) and Higher School Certificate (HSC). It was intended to cater for the increased range of subjects available to pupils since the raising of the school leaving age from 14 to 15 in 1947. The examinations were graded into ordinary levels for the top 25% academically of 16-year-olds and CSE for the lower level. A Levels were the subsequent examination for those who studied for a further two years after O-Levels or CSE's. There was also an advanced ordinary level (AO-level),

My Mum always polished the step. We may have lived in a dump but it was a clean dump and, like katyjay stated, people had pride in their homes. People didn't have the money to do much to their homes but they could make them look a bit better by having a nice polished step to welcome them home.

Congratulations to Notts County who celebrated their 150th Anniversary yesterday. They had, among others, County favourite's Les Bradd and Don Masson joining the party. As well as the low times there have been many great times. Years ago I used to take my kids to the County ground on a Sunday night where they had a 'Family Night'. My kids used to love it. The DJ always knew which records would get everyone dancing and on certain songs everyone on the dance floor did the same steps and actions. I can remember one Sunday night everybody was happy because County had played at Wembley and won prom

If you want to know where the cheapest fuel is nearest to you join PetrolPrices.com and you'll get regular updates. I get an e-mail every two weeks to let me know the fuel prices of the local garages. It's up to me how often I get them and the area the garages are in. You can also get them via your phone. I've been having them for a couple of years now. It costs nothing and you can cancel whenever you wish.

My original post was that I hoped the new owners would take Forest into the Premiership. As a Nottingham lad that's what I want to see as well as County being there with them. As for the comment about supporting every team that plays Forest well, I'm not into that 'I hate Forest, 'I hate County' stuff. I won't be commenting any further on this topic because I'm getting scared about coming up against people who are affiliated to the 'Black Hand Gang' and the 'Desperate Dan's Pie Eaters Club'.

lynmee, your post stated 'Dream on, dream on. You were closer to relegation than promotion'. I can't understand what you mean by 'dream on'. I stated that it was reported that Forest were being taken over. This is fact not a dream. Secondly, I don't understand what you mean by 'You were closer.....' Why do you say 'You'?. I don't play for Forest and I don't go to see them play. I stated that the Club was so close to promotion to the Premiership. This is fact. Under Billy Davies Forest were twice in the play-offs but had a poor 2011-12 season without him. Fancy attacking me after I'd sent you a
