  2. I wished that we could have afforded wellingtons. All we had were pieces of wood tied to our feet. Times were hard.
  3. I'm sat here sobbing at the thought of it.
  4. Forest and County are getting what they deserve by employing rubbish managers on the cheap. The players know it and so do the fans who were very vociferous when they were appointed. No football club will ever do well if the owners are changing the manager every five minutes.
  5. Perhaps your Mum had told you to wear it, catfan.
  6. I think you're doing quite well, loppylugs. You're too self-critical.
  7. The posh word that you mentioned, not the money, Valuer Jim.
  8. I think that Procul Harum got their inspiration from loppylugs.
  9. It was a nice cover version but nobody sings it like Procul Harum who recorded it in 1967. The lyrics were quite weird and made you wonder if LSD had an influence.
  10. The only thing that I was interested in was Mrs Wright's toffee shop, Deeps.
  11. I've been reading all the posts on this thread and it's hard to understand the horror and trauma that the servicemen/women had to endure. We can all say how terrible it must have been but unless you went through what they did you could never understand the reality of it. One minute you're going to work, meeting your mates for the banter and then going home to your family. The next minute you're in another country seeing the horror of soldiers being blown to pieces before your eyes. There was no time to stop, you had to keep moving. Others would be taken prisoner and suffer torture and starvati
  12. I'm just about to log out so I'll read it tomorrow, Col. Judging by Ian's reaction It should be worth waiting for.
  13. Dig the sideboards, catfan. ( for my friends in the USA, sideburns).
  14. I can remember when I was a little kid putting the paraffin lamp out to our car. Nobody ever touched them in those days. I don't know how it'd be in Bulwell or Aspley, though.
  15. I'm sure that we'd all love to see the newspaper article, BilboroughShirley. I enjoyed reading your post.
  16. I noticed that the window cleaner had been, Cliff Ton.
  17. My wife can't stand Keith Lemon, she finds him repulsive.
  18. susyshoes (#85), the newsagent that I mentioned doesn't seem to be there anymore. It was on the right hand side, going towards the town centre. I've looked on Google Maps and I seem to think it was near Brook Street, possibly the shop that's now the Chinese takeaway.
  19. Blondie, your post (#80) 'I also remember the newsagent's on Annesley road, a small sweet shop where you could book your mystery trips and holiday excursions.......My neighbour used to drive the buses for them, he was called Cyril Chambers........' reminded me of a post I put on last year regarding the newsagents on Annesley Road, Hucknall: I've been looking on Google Map for a newsagent that was on the right hand side of Annesley Road, going towards Hucknall High Street but It doesn't seem to be there anymore. A few years ago, I kept a scrapbook of the Rolls Royce Celtic FC as my eldest son
