  1. Back home now after a nice ride around the lanes out here, got stopped quite a lot as I was riding through the villages, every one wanted to talk about the trike, usual questions,"did you make it yourself, where do you get them from, how fast does it go (as fast as the legs will pedal it) do you need a license for one",great to talk to people about something you have an interest in though, took a nice steady ride between home,Bassingham,Stapleford (lincolnshires Stapleford) back through Norton Disney,Thurlby,Bassingham and back home, maybe 10-12 miles in all lost track of my time with talking to so m

  3. Just a couple of pics of the Trike (jolly Roger) in case some of the newcomers aren't sure what one looks like As you can see the rear wheel is more or less a standard mountain bike wheel fitted with a 9 speed gear cassette and 6" disc brake, the front wheels are 20" fitted with Sturmey Archer drum brakes, steering is called underseat because the stem and handlebars are fitted to the main frame (cruciform) under the seat, the seat is a mesh fabric over an aluminium frame making for a very light unit, the main frame (cruciform) uses cromoly tubing about 2" diameter and the rear triangle and fr
  4. carni, the Co2 cartridges are a godsend as you say, check your tyre pressures tomorrow though because Co2 doesn't hold pressure like compressed air, good idea about carrying spare tubes,I carry both sizes for the trike, rear wheel 26x1.50 and 20x1.50 for the fronts, well done with your steps today,1,5148 is a fantastic amount,I,m getting the trike out tomorrow for an hour, just local riding to start with so looking forward to that, tyres pumped up,brakes adjusted and drinks bottle cleaned out Keeeeep stepping Rog
  5. Today's step count,7025,pretty poor really but spent time in the garden cutting glass for the broken panels in the greenhouse, repairing damaged tv aerial cable under the guttering, driving Mrs P to the gym and picking her up later, then taking her to Sainsbury's for the weekly shop followed by getting her tea ready (poached egg on toast) finally finish off watering the flowers in the containers, now waiting for youngest daughter to come up to see me,grand kids should wake me up a bit though Rog

  8. To save all this condemnation of athletes why not have two Olympics?one for the drug users (assisted) and one for the non drug users,(unassisted) after all it's their bodies that are being abused, if an athlete wins an event their name gets loads of publicity and no doubt increases their income and everyone is happy for them,it's not until later when some sort of drug scandal hit's the press that everyone is suddenly unhappy, if, like I suggest there is two Olympics (assisted and unassisted events) every one is happy plus there is a chance that more revenue will be generated to benefit the com
  9. Just got back home after a few days break in North Wales, unfortunately cut short by a car accident, not my fault and no one hurt but still a shock, anyway back to the important stuff,Arrived on the campsite near Harlech ,pitched up then set off to Barmouth for some chips and small fish,a good walk round there and a walk around the campsite resulted in 14079 steps,I'm pleased with that,Monday was a trip to Llandudno and a tram ride up the great orme (me breathing wouldn't let me walk up the hills to the summit) walked down though through the meandering paths and finally came out in the "Mediterr
  10. Managed to salvage something of the day and finished up with 10922 steps,a couple of walks around the quarry sorted that out before the rain came,it did turn very humid,on my way home the rain started and by the time I got to Sleaford it was slinging it down. carni you are amazing, never giving up,darkazana with all you have had to put up with you still find time to get the steps in and enter them on here just brilliant Keeeeep stepping everyone Rog

"First time I haven't felt ill since 1999, I'm' just loving this getting fit, now doing 12-13 mph" It's comment like these that make the challenge worthwhile,I am so pleased for you carni, the effort you and the others have put into this is amazing,I sit here writing this with a tear of pride in my eyes because of having the privilege to know you guy's even if it is only on line. Not very good today again as I have to go on a two day company training program tomorrow near Coventry so have had to try to pull in two days work which means spending longer in the office,Thursday and Friday I will be on another site near Peterborough That involves looking after the general day to day quarry stuff as well as looking after on site contractors and a team of archaeologists, should be able to get a few steps there, then back to my own site for Saturday to try and catch up there but next week I am on holiday for the week so hopefully plenty of stepping to be had,my steps so far toda
  15. Poor day today steps wise, only 9425, got up early enough (05.30) cooked breakfast for us and helped Mrs P clean up then took her to the gym at 09.00 till 11.30 while I was at home I dismantled the old pc that was in the bedroom and put it in the roofspace, put the old pc desk in the pickup truck ready for disposal in the works recycle bin, picked Mrs P up from gym and did her a bite to eat (poached eggs on granery toast with a sprinkle of sea salt and black pepper) nipped to the garden center in Southwell to get some bedding plants to brighten an already bright front garden, cut the grass at the

  22. darkazana,If I'd have know you were going to the Blue Bell I would have nipped in for a lemonade and to meet you and yours, our site is on the bend as you leave Tattershall Thorpe on your way to Woodhall Spa, good amount of steps achieved and no need to go on the treadmill, result Chulla some good points raised there,I must have a go myself when I get the trike out carni, don't worry about how to calculate steps covered, you're doing just great the way you calculate them anyway, the important thing is you are doing more excersize and enjoying it,well done on your steps Tuesdays score was 11399,
  23. Carni, you can get a cycle computer that monitors your heart rate, calories burned as well as speed, average speed time etc, they don't cost too much either, might pay you to do a web search, I used to have one fitted to my road bike, you wear a chest strap (completely comfortable and unobtrusive) that picks up you heart beats and transferes it via wireless technology to the small computer on your handlebars, you can set the cycle computer to give a read out for high and low heartrate so you can monitor how you are doing and stay within the set ranges, have a look at one of those, I will try an
