Re the Fairham badge, the same picture of the swan can be seen cast into the old Clifton bridge end from the Clifton side viewed best from the footpath at the top of the steep rise from Wilford lane(cycle track), family crest of the Clifton family Rog

Here's one from a ride around Draycote water near Rugby, note Nigel who is stood up near his trike, he only has one arm, he's had his trike specially adapted to fit his false arm, just after this ride he rode from his home in Northampton all the way up the west coast of England and Scotland returning down the east side until he reached Derby, he then cut across to Birmingham and back to Northampton just to achieve his 1000 miles, I think it took him three months, all this towing his camping trailer full of gear, I don't know if trike riders are a special breed or just crazy, but whatever it is

Hi Stephen, not me i'm afraid, there is a few of us about though, a couple of years ago we had a ride around Rutland water, there was about 17 of us, that was a bit of a sight I can tell you, I have some pics somewhere I'll post when I find them, I'm thinking of riding to Sleaford this weekend weather depending, through all the back roads, the hardest bit is climbing upto the Lincoln ridge from where I live but once up there it's pretty easy going Rog

Fell off the trike once up at Lady Bower/Derwent resevoir, riding down the road with the pathway about 6 feet above road level up a grass bank, thought it would be a good idea to take a picture of my trike with the Derwent dam in the back ground, so carefully pulled to the side of the road and rode up the bank at an angle, unfortunately the angle was too great and the trike with me in it rolled over, my cycling shoes still clipped into the pedals and me upside down with the contents of my drinks bottle slowly emptying itself over my head, could'nt right myself up for laughing, fortunately no o

Sounds to me Carni you need to start riding a recumbent trike like mine, 3 wheels so very difficult to fall off, nice comfy seat to lay back in when resting (similar to a deck chair) and plenty of luggage space to keep your camera Rog

Thanks for the reminder about Jack Jack Bing, I remember him well, I think I've mentioned him before in a post, we used to take our bicycle wheels to him to have them trued up after them being buckled, I think he charged about 3d each back in the mid 60's, by the time we got to the top of Farnborough road they were as bad again Rog

Little Egrets have been present there for a few years now, good to see they are still there and breeding now. I've carried out a few bird survey's for the Notts wildlife trust at Besthorpe in recent years and the site seems to get better each year, disused gravel quarry's are like a magnet for wildlife of all types Rog

Photobucket playing up again so on with the writeup, Set off at 07.05hrs and headed west towards Newark 8 miles away, took a picture of a nice horse chestnut tree at the junction of Newark road and Staplford woods, arrived in Newark breaking the speed limit yet again, this time only by 2 mph, ok I was going down Beacon hill luckily the traffic lights at the bottom were on green so didn't have to touch the brake levers, left at the end of that road and right at the island saw me going over Trent bridge at a fair lick only stopping to get a picture of the Newark Castle signal box, (one for the r
