Just loved radio Luxembourg, 208 on the medium wave I think, listened to it every night in the mid to late sixties, even went to sleep leaving the radio on all night, wake up in the morning to the sound of "Hissing" coming from the radio, a sign of it wanting some new batteries, PP9 if I remember right, the memories come flooding back now, slow summer walks around Clifton village, three Woodbines from the village shop and a steady walk back to the top of Farnborough road, kiss my girlfriend good night and spend the rest of the night with the radio pressed against my ear, Oh happy day's Rog

Chaffinch, lovely birds, the one/ones in the picture are cock birds (males) and perhaps they can see their own reflections on the windows or mirrors, they think that another male is in the area and he has to worn him off "this is my territory and your not welcome" Cliff ton, dont say he is not exotic, all bird are, over here at the moment we have some little Egrets, flocks of Widgeon and Teal on the lagoons and a breeding colony of Black Headed Gulls, a few weeks ago a pair of common Cranes visited us for a couple of days along with a Great White Egret, I will be off to Bempton cliffs (near B

Clifton Bridge Inn was called the Ponderosa because it had the biggest car park around, like the TV western Bonanza's land was called the Ponderosa because it had the biggest land around, the Man of Trent was always called the Manor when I used to frequent the place. There a nice memorial to the army/airforce at Stragglethorpe just on the border of Nottinghamshire/Lincolnshire (A17 crossroads for Brant Broughton/Stragglethorpe about 5 miles out of Newark heading east), I know a lot of planes took off from there for the D day landings, you might get some info by searching Mr G oogle I've got a picture of the memorial somewhere and will post it if I can find it, failing that I think Beefsteak has some pics as well Rog
  24. Hi Pixie, Get to the doctors and tell him/her about the ringing in the ears, if it's in both of them it's sometimes a sign of high blood pressure, I've suffered with it for a few years now and it's no joke as you say at night when it's all quiet Rog

I make some thin pancakes, spread some blueberry pie filling just in from one edge,not too much filling though, roll the pancake and tuck the sides in so it looks similar to a spring roll, shallow fry until gold and crisp, serve with a dollop of sour cream, mmmm also called blueberry blintzers a nice jewish desert Rog
