  1. Goose Fair It's always the first Thursday in Oct. From where we lived in St Ann's you could walk to the fair, at the time we were teenagers we would walk down to the fair every night, no not for the rides just to see what boys were around. Love the noise, crowds, fortune teller's. Miss the side shows, and the 2 big swing boats, the cakewalk, and the fair chap who used to jump on the waltzer's and swing the car round till you were dizzy. When setting the date for our wedding it had to be Goose Fair Saturday. Getting older saw a young girl fall all the way down the steps off one of the

Hi MargieH your post reminder me about when my daughter-in-law Nina took her little boy to his first toddler group, the group were singing old mac Donald's farm, when it came to the noise the pig makes Nina grunted, so loud " "No" "No" said one of the helpers you just say grunt, grunt, you don't do a real grunt. Nina did not go back again. So grandson had to learn the song at home. With all the grunts.

  14. When my mum was saving for her bottom draw she brought a set of small wine glasses they had a coffee colour base and around the rim was all in gold leaf (not real gold) I think six glasses cost her 6d this was in 1936 when she married. Me each payday I would go down to (woollies) for part of my bottom draw but the thing's I brought cost 4/6 each now, I only used to get £2 10/- wages so to me they were expensive, they were wooden handles knife, fork, and spoon, believe or not I still have a set of six, six knives, six spoons and six forks. No not four candles? to quote a phase. Married 1965.

I met a chap in Nottingham who had come to see the site: he'd travelled from Blackpool where he'd seen the lights He said I've seen Nottingham Castle though it looked more like a hall, I've even seen the statue of brave young Albert Ball. I went to the park in Wollaton were the Reindeer run free I took a trip to Sherwood Forest and saw the old oak tree Then I wonder round the Council House sat in slab square, loved the flowers up the poles and all the pigeons there Saw the Galleries of Justice, and Tales of Robin Hood, went around the sandstone caves folks told me I sh

  18. Most greens will let you have a try for about £2 00 an hour you won't need any bowls all you do need are flat shoes. Not sure where you live but Brinsley is open most afternoons and you get casual play, some teams ask if you want to join but it's up to you, if you do know any body who plays ask them if you can go and have a roll up with them, this is the best way to see if you like it. Plus you will pick up tips (No Not Ti?) tips I said.
  19. Love all your comments, you won't know if you like bowls or not , till you give it a try. Start in April 2019. If you don't want to take it to serious there are people who just play for fun. Sorry I must admit that I do like a challenge------- Just example of one match it was a pairs match 2 players one end 2 the other. When we had finished an end before I had time to check how many bowls were ours, as most of our teams bowls were near the jack , the opposition chap signal to the other end (2 points down,) meaning we were 2 points up, "just a minute" I said " I want that bowl measur
