  1. Your right Beekay my dad would enter the rose shows. he used to be so proud of his roses, also lots of chrysanthemum's shows which he would enter. Our allotment was very large. we had a summer house with a loo (round the back) a pear tree, a plum, tree 4 apple trees, rhubarb patch gooseberry (gose-gog ) patch plus 2 large veg plots. A 12ft and 6ft green house a large tool shed. I used to spend most of my time up there, my dad loved his garden. until one day he went to look our his chrysanthemum's were going on and all the flower had been chopped off. I felt it for him my day really worked
  2. St Ann's had a full variety of shops. From the top of St Ann's Well Road to the bottom where the road traffic island was there was every shop you wanted, also 2 cinema's Empress and Cavandish. 2 dance halls The Palais and Victoria a good undercover market. A bus station. A city bus that went to Wilford bridge through Nottingham centre. The bus ran every 3 mins. More or less a pub on every street corner. Two beautiful Churches St Ann's & St Catharine's as well as a Methodist church. Famous people Hopewells furniture, their first shop was on St Ann's Well Rd but they did live on Robin

PUBS closing or now closed GONE The Old General Radford rd now flats The Wheatsheaf now Mc Donalds but worst of all The Loggerheads Cliff Rd QE GONE maybe next KC (King Charles) At one time St Ann's Nottm had over 50 pubs but then in the 1960s the city council dramatically began the clearance of St Ann's /Meadows /and Radford. so RIP local pubs. Gone are almost 382 pubs from Nottm city centre. Gone A singsong around the Piano and a day trip to Skeg, Shippstone, Whitbread. Home Ales, Tennant's Mansfield. Brewerys all gone. Maybe

Evening Oz thanks for post but what I was trying to get at was the things that happened to you, in your life time. if you were there I remember John Lennon death he was comming out his hotel with Yo-Co ono (not sure of spelling) but please post again with some more memories.   5. Well jumped out of bed in the normal way (I wish) it was about 4 30am. No Idea what to do till my brain went into overdrive. Soon be another year older, then my brain kicked in!!! What can I remember/did in my life-time? 1/ Watched Nottm Forest win the FA cup watched them in slab square on top-less bus, D'white with leg in plaster. 2/Went with my gran and bother to see the Queen when she came to visit Nottm 3/ Watched the QE coronation in B/W 12inch tv at my aunts. 4/ Then later watched the first man walk on the moon.

Cheers for the feedback DJ360 have a lot at the Celtic ladies i just found them by chance. also Derek Warfielo and the Young Tones all though have not heard any thing about this group for quite a while. Have you been to Ireland to the fest end week in Jan in Dublin. Went with my daughter in law a few times not due to h''ummm age/mobility cannot manage to go.

  8. Just been to Norway with The Kilkennys (on u-tube) Davey lead singer was doing the best to get the crowd singing, the Kilkenny's sing Irish Folk song's. If you like that kind of music then take a look at them. Just another good Irish group are Drops of Green. ps Davey and the group in the end did get the people to join in, and they enjoyed the singing.

  11. Hi LizzieM i must have seen you in Dungeon club sometime it was for younger people as at the time you had 21 to be able to go into a night club. I worked top of Canning circus in a salon with another Junior Elaine, every Friday night we worked till 8 00pm then when we had closed We would both used the bosses shower change of clothes and away we would go down to the Dungeon. Danced till it closed then a taxi to Elaine's or my house. 1 to 1/2 hours sleep then shower, back at work for 8 00 am next morning, We never stopped for lunch at we only worked till 1 00pm then five minutes
  12. Last Night thought the storm had missed us (NO SUCH LUCK) Fence down, trellis gone, wooden seat blown over, but what was nice the wind blow my small Christmas over and smashed all glass ornaments but the lights still worked and we still have window's and patio doors in the bungalow.

  14. Well what can one say Christmas morning 25/12/2023 Jumped out of bed, wanted to see what Santa had brought for me? I had sent him my list of what i would like? but either the post has been delayed or Santa cannot read, Presents from family!!!! 6 bars of smelly soaps, box hot chocolate drinks, a fleece, well you can guess the rest. Not that I am ungrateful, but did my list reach Santa? This is what I ask for________________________________________________________- A new body with at least 38 b

  16. Hi Oz Nice to see you posting again, glad to hear your on the mend. "Well what can one say about our RED MEN????" Watched the game, they seem to be trying so hard yet never getting there? Spurs played not bad but spent more time on the ground than playing football. The Red men have got to go up a gear or two. Both my grandson's follow Forest, I always speak to them on that old fashion thing called a phone! The youngest grandson Jenson will answer his phone, and if the Reds have lost he just say's "" I just don't want to talk about it
