  1. So sorry to hear this news Michael, they can do so much in the fight against cancer nowadays but it is still a scary prospect. Try to keep strong and positive for your wife. All good wishes for you both.
  2. I remember staying at the caravan club site there a few years ago. We arrived late and found a pitch, unhitched and started to set up as quietly as we could, all was going well, then one of their huge planes flew over causing a right racket, much to our amusement, which was when we decided that there really wasn't any point in trying to not disturb anyone else as if the planes were still flying.
  3. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion as long as we all agree that in the end I am right!!!!! Other than that I will not be drawn!
  4. I would much rather watch Top gear than Eastenders or any of the other soaps, and certainly never watch any of those crass reality shows or Strictly or what passes for talent shows, but have less talent than Jezza has in his little finger!
  5. I struggle to understand why these people think it is ok to take others with them, if it is true. If he wanted to die why not just jump off a bridge. So many people peoples lives now devastated for ever by one selfish act, including his own family who also have to live with this.
  6. I will stand up and be counted. I actually used to enjoy TG. I found Jeremy Clarksons lack of political correctness refreshing, and enjoyed his "safaris" around the world with May and Hammond. Always read his column in the Times too, regardless of how you feel about him, he is very talented and generally will walk where angels fear to tread. No I didn't sign the petition, the writing was on the wall, and yes he was out of order, but don't forget the producer himself didn't put in a complaint, it was Clarkson himself who confessed to the fracas as the beeb called it.
  7. #13 Your mention of even children being hung for petty crime brought to mind the Hanging Tree in Watnall (which I have remarked upon on another thread somewhere), still there in one of the fields with one particular branch removed....that which was used for the hangings. the last person hung there was a 10 year old boy. His crime? He stole a spoon!
  8. Obviously this is a very scary time for you both Michael, and we are all there with you. They have come a long way in the battle against cancer, so try to stay positive throughout it all. My thoughts are with you both.
  9. Best wishes to you and your wife Michael, and hope the outcome of your hospital visit is good news.
  10. I have a ewbank sweeper...use it in the caravan
  11. As the flowers of spring now start to brighten the ground, and the blossoms and new leaf buds awaken the trees we now move into the Celtic month of the Alder or Fearn, (pronounced fairin) the only broadleaf tree to bear cones. Friday the 20th March is quite a significant day this year, as well as being the day of the solar eclipse it is also the day that the Wheel of Life turns to Ostara (from where the word Easter originates). The Alder flourishes along river banks bridging that magical space between both the heavens and earth. According to legend the Alder and Willow became trees of the wa
  12. Bagsie the big purple ones....with the sweeties included of course
  13. #1 How far back do you want to go as to how we coped TBI? "Throughout history, solar eclipses have been viewed with dread and associated with myths and superstition - and even now some cultures consider them a bad omen. During a total eclipse, unlike the partial one that we will witness on Friday, darkness falls, the sun's shimmering corona becomes visible, and a chill enters the air. Spookily, birds stop singing, confused by the apparent sudden transition from day to night. This eerie air is reflected in legends that have sprung up around the world. In Vietnam people believed that a giant

  16. And the worst that has happened today? I went for a power walk this evening to boost my step count on my fitbit, I was really pleased with the total after two circuits.....until I realised I had taken my hubby's fitbit out by mistake!!!!

  20. A quick update on my journey to beating diabetes. It is now 3 months since I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Yesterday I went for a blood test to check my glucose levels, results are not in yet, but what I can report is that since last November I have lost 20lbs and am now below my target weight of 9st 7lb. I have simply done this by cutting out fat and sugar from my diet, with the occasional treat. And by exercise in various forms, using our treadmill before we went to the Cotswolds and when there using our Wii Fit, yoga dvd and fitness trainer dvd, not to mention the invaluable Fitbit w
