  1. We have used Dysons for some years without problems. I find them simple to use and maintain.
  2. Some of my favourite reading over the years. Connelly has created a character of someone that I would value and listen to; Harry Bosch has a blend of being a principled rationalist tempered with determined pragmatism.
  3. “Everybody matters or nobody matters.” ― Harry Bosch by Michel Connelly
  4. The Scout Troop I belonged to was great (105th) , I learned a great deal that has helped through life. Don't know about BP though it looks as if he was quite right wing. Where will it stop? Will we be dismantling churches throughout the country because of the (now) politically incorrect views spouted from pulpits that resulted in the crusades or the Spanish Inquisition? Crazy stuff!
  5. These happenings bring all kinds of memories flooding back I recall reading about how Marcus Garvey had struggled to draw international attention to racism. Then there was Cassius Clay's stance when required to fight in Vietnam in 1966: "I ain't got no quarrel with them Viet Cong ... They never called me nigger." Then there was Martin Luther King...……………………. And so it goes on. Let us hope for the most peaceful outcome for all.
  6. Well its our version of democracy...…......…..
  7. Cummings and Goings hey!! Some may like this chanson
  8. I was in 105th St Judes on Woodborough Rd late 50s early 60s. Wonderful men ran this troop and taught us stuff that lasted all our lives.
  9. Tomorrow is Dawn Chorus Day. Always worth getting out early doors and having a listen...……………..
  10. Then there was Roger Bates ………….. a very nice man and I still owe him money!! Not many people called him Master Bates...………… honest!
  11. Great Picture of a Great Bloke on a Great machine...…………….
  12. I was not clear.. sorry . I move my coop once a week. I don't have to do so I know …………..but I like it. I like the idea of netting the lot but I live right in the countryside where they run free the biggest threat is not cars on the quiet road but Mr. Fox and these days anyone who feels hungry and cannot get food in supermarkets. If I get time I will post a picture.
  13. I have a moveable coop but then in flat Lincs that is not difficult to move around. Move the coop once a week.
  14. Just because we have not arrived at something better doesn't mean we should stop looking and trying. If we keep doing the same we keep getting the same. I would think we could shift to a more benign model of capitalism that is geared in such a way that merit and hard work is generously rewarded in a person's lifetime and where value is given to essential roles/functions as well as invention and drive. All land including whatever lies beneath is owned by everyone alive in that country who works and therefore contributes. Limit inherited wealth. I could go on...………...
  15. Cats can rule!! OK by me but the local songbirds are all protesting.
  16. Men, We are where we are and we can wrangle to the end of time about the what and how of all kinds of situations. To date there is no doubt that irresponsible capitalism coupled to an archaic electoral system designed to work with only two contenders has put the country in a mess. The existing services are fine if you are in the exploitative minority and have the estates to wander around and the resources to deploy as you would wish . No good moaning about a corrupt world which we have allowed to develop. We need to scrap ALL that has led to where we are and replace it with
  17. Excellent!! They and many other working folk trying to keep our world going deserve our praise. As I naively aspire to some kind of balance I am thinking that there should be a co-ordinated boo/raspberry/thumbs down for those who spent a decade wantonly slashing the NHS budget for ideological reasons, closing hospitals, A&E units, maternity wards, and walk-in centres . Also for demeaning and belittling overworked junior doctors, scrapping the NHS bursaries meaning new NHS nurses have to rack up tens of thousands in unpayable student debts; reducing over 10,000 NHS hospital bed
  18. The light at the end of the tunnel is the headlamp on the express train coming towards you at 100mph
  19. I remember him !! He rode a stripped down scooter with the Outlaws (a group of mods that met outside The Outlaws Bar on their way to one or other of the boat clubs) mid sixties. Known as "Blonde John" to distinguish him from all the other Johns! He wore a black parka (unusual in those days) and was a good fettler of scooter engines. He came up to my folks house and helped sort out my knackered 150 LD Lambretta . Friends with John Nequest and Vespa owner Graham Manser.
  20. Well Brew that is a neat summary of the Horlicks that has evolved for a range of spurious reasons. Hey...…….. I like my Filofax and still use it
  21. Brian Rix did a great deal for MENCAP and was instrumental in shifting government to provide education for children with learning disabilities. The family did a lot of good.
  22. And life goes on...………………………………...
  23. Well said MargieH!! Keep it rational and don't get diverted by irrelevance.
