  1. Someone I knew was the landlord at Sir Garnet Wolsey for a while. Dave Walters. He was there until he was offered a better establishment in Beeston and I can't remember what the name of that is.
  2. For nature related problems - well its abn interesting forum anyway, see here:- http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/
  3. If you want to use a computer it is best to book it in advance. Or so they told me
  4. I've got Mr & Mrs Blackbird hopping around the garden at the moment. They have been nesting in my conifers or somewhere here for years. I know it is the same Blackbirds every year - I can recognise those skinny little dicky bird legs anywhere!
  5. I have never knowingly seen a Dutch bike in the flesh. The one I am looking at 'looks' right. My view on it is that the Dutch have so many bikes I assume that they must know how to make them. This one is around 25 years old (I don't care about that), very sit up and beg and does have a similar simple lock. Drum brakes front and rear and 3 speed Sturmey Archer.
  6. I don't think I would have admitted that I couldn't get a cycle helmet big enough to fit ! Pleased to see that you are OK again by the way
  7. Since I asked the question I have Googled the subject. It seems that there are fors and againsts making it a legal requirement. Firbeck made the point and I agree, the style of hats makes me want to pee with laughter every time I see one. The reason I have latched on to this topic is that I am considering taking on an Industrial Unit, and the van will be left there instead of being stuck in front of my kitchen window! The unit is a steady 18 mins walk from home and unusually for Eastwood area it is a pretty well flat route. It lends itself to being cycled although part of the route I walk on
  8. Does the law require you to wear a helmet to ride a bike in this country?
  9. Nothing wrong with FrontPage. It certainly works for me. Copy and paste the blue bit below. This was my first attempt
  10. I have considered Serif. I find their software generally very user friendly

  14. Meant to say in the last post on machine numbers. The most numerous Singer was the Model 15 which was introduced in 1883 and ran til the mid 60's. 18 million were made at Kilbowie alone, then the American, Canadian and Aussie machines. Pfaff 130 was the same machine (Pfaff being Singer anyway) and all the clones that were made by other manufacturers with Singers blessing!
  15. 201 is well know to be Singers best lockstitch machine. Others will say that it is the best straight lockstitch machine that has ever been made by anyone.. I did have a facelifted black ally 201K, last year - it made £130 on Ebay. I was well pleased.
  16. I own a 1961 Rover 100 that needs its interior re-upholstering, I haven't got round to it yet and that is another story anyway. I bought a Brother industrial lockstitch to do it. Learnt to sew on it and then sold it because it was in the way and the fact you have to keep draining the oil out of it to move it far made it a nuisance. I replaced it with a Singer 201K This is one of the post 1954 facelifted ones in cast aluminium. Made in the same year as me - 1956. It had never been used and is in mint condition in all respects. I realised that there was a little money to be made in sewing machi
