  1. #372 Sorry Bubblewrap, misread what you meant.
  2. A couple of long names I remember:- A V2 class loco (60809) was called "The Snapper, The East Yorkshire Regiment, The Duke of York's Own" Another V2 (60835) was called "The Green Howard, Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment"
  3. The Hut 6 Story by Gordon Welchman (Enigma - Bletchley Park WW11) Just finished - The Testament of Gideon Mack by James Robertson. (Novel)
  4. I received some sad news today that dat47 had sadly passed away after a long battle. I'm sure that everyone on this forum will themselves be greatly saddened by this news. R.I.P. data47
  5. Thank you all for your help with this! The images certainly brought back many memories and will help me further with my article. I have trawled through lots of images but they all seem to be copyrighted so do not want to infringe. The one in post #3 looks perfect as it seems to be at Trent Bridge, but again unsure of copyright. The colour ones in #4 are evocative and show that lovely "Corporation Green" Thanks again!
  6. Does anyone own a photograph of a Trolley bus standing at the stop on the city side of Trent Bridge? I am putting together a short article for use in a future issue of the www.returntograntham.co.uk magazine and need this for inclusion, so the copyright must be with the owner or an image free to use. The magazine is purely a not for profit affair, with the money raised by sales of the magazine going towards arranging social events to allow former railway staff to meet up and exchange memories every now and then. Many have rediscovered old friends during these meetings and it is a delight to
  7. Great stuff, thank you for all of your help and assistance with this ! I now have some really useful pointers to hopefully help me improve, will keep you posted on how I get on. Thanks also Cliff Ton, I am sure I will have lots of questions for you as my learning progresses.
  8. Can anyone recommend some suitable assistance / reading material for Photoshop CC. I am finding my way around it gradually but need some help.
  9. I would love a nice (future) trip by train from the Ruddington (GCR) site to connect with the tram at some point, maybe Wilford? Last did this in the 1960's but went all the way to Nottingham Victoria !
  10. If it is found that certain cars are the wrong side of the emissions league table what might this mean for the ordinary family driver and indeed company car drivers? I seem to think that road tax is based on the emissions of particular models and company car drivers have their personnel tax adjusted each year against these emissions. If over a period of time someone has used a car in the wrong band (due to this finding) are the government going to want the tax back? How long has this been going on?
  11. Somewhere in another part of the universe (or a parallel universe) Adam is about to bite into an apple..... For the apple it's the end of it's existence, for Adam (and Eve) it's the start of a very long discussion that still goes on to this day....
  12. Just got back in after going to the Forest match and then stopped off for something to eat at the Ferry Inn, Wilford. At the match they were promoting the new film about the glory days at the City Ground, it's called "I believe in Miracles" due for release on 11th October, I think? A few minutes ago I was sorting through a few records that have been in storage for donkeys years, looking for the record with the same title as the film and sung by Hot Chocolate. Now, I had not read this post until about 10 minutes ago, but when I was searching one of the records dropped on to the floor and sto
  13. I have decided I am going to bite the bullet and travel over to Nottingham on Saturday. The main reason being that I have just bought 2 tickets for the Forest match total cost around £50 ! On top of that there is the cost of getting there and all the other things that crop up during the day. Hope it's worth it, but I'm sure it will be...?
  14. I was thinking about driving over to Nottingham (my home town) at sometime in the near future, but I think this has put me off. It's the same with London and the "congestion charge" I don't bother going anymore. Think I will stay put in the sticks.
  15. Thanks for posting that Cliff Ton and thanks for your PM to remind me about the thread, I had forgotten about it!
  16. That's an interesting little piece 2easyco, thanks for posting it.
  17. Hello Trismegistus, enjoy Nottstagia it's a great source of information, banter and fun. Intriguing name, two for the price of one.
  18. A conversation started the other day about the R.O.F. in the Meadows. One of the questions raised was did it have it's own railway or a railway connection?
  19. Watched the news on BBC 1 this morning and the sports section talked about Chelsea's 1-0 win over Notts County Ladies. Rather disappointed that apart from Notts being mentioned in the result at the beginning, no further comment or interview with anyone from Notts occurred.... It was all Chelsea this and Chelsea that.... I wonder if they would have given it as much coverage if Notts had won? PS - I have been a Forest fan since 1959 but have been to the odd Notts match in the past, so support both of our teams.
  20. I have lots of sounds that I like and all are beautiful in their own particular way. The deep soft continuous grunt my dog makes when his ears are rubbed (coupled with just the tip of his tail wagging) The tumultuous increasing roar of the crowd when Forest score. The steady tick tock of our old clock on short winter afternoons. A crackling spitting log fire when jack frost is about. The sound of Little John striking the hour in the Market Square (not heard that for years) The far off sound of a train in the night. Rain gently tapping on the bedroom window in the early hours. The hoot
  21. Thanks for the explanation mick2me , all back to working order now so will go steady on the like button!
  22. A new one for me, not being able to "like" something on here when I see it. I must have exceeded my 50 likes quota yesterday (30th), but I just felt in a "liking things" mood (sorry) Once past 50 will it work if I "unlike" them?
  23. Still can't "like" posts.... :-( Will try again tomorrow maybe.
  24. Thanks for the explanation Mick2me. Without thinking I've just tried to "like" your post but I guess that I'll have to wait until the next time I log on now (If after 24 hours I can then perhaps remember what it was I was going to like.....) I enjoy reading through all of the topics on Nottstalgia every few days and I see lots of things to "Like" so I suppose I will have to be more selective in the future. Is there some technical reason as to why it is set at 50? (just wondered, being a non techi)
