ME and a mate managed to get in the Delphi' to see an X film when we were about 14,they took our money and after being seated about 10 mins, the Coppers came in and escorted us out,we were searched in the 'Foyer' and my mate was found to be carrying a 'Pen knife',he was relieved of it and we left. We then got on the 17 Bus outside, went upstairs and pretended to smoke with our artificial fags, the conducter kicked us off the bus at Piccadilly,we wanted to get to Marble Arch (sounds like we were in London don't it) as we walked the rest of the way home i saw a Girl i always had a fa

  6. This thread reminded me of about 8 yrs ago when we had a Security business,we were hired to look after some former Army Officer residence in The Park, after it had been converted into luxury apartments,i think it was on either South or Park rd,so it looks as if the 'Park' had quite a History with the Military.

  8. WHEN me and the wife first started 'Sparking' early 80s,............'Arthurs theme' Christopher Cross, still both get mushy when we hear it,

  10. Bit of truth in both arguments, the small shopkeeper has to pay more for his stock, because the main big retailers screw so much out of manufactures who give in for volume.

  14. Glad you found your vocation Gibbo, not all are lucky to find it,work is a big part of our lives and many people work at what they don't enjoy, which i think is sad.
  15. Funny thing is i went for interview this morning,ok it was'nt a full time regular job,but it was something i wanted on an 'as and when' basis, some of it in Notts and some in the West Midlands, they wanted me to start in the next few days, but as i go away in a couple of weeks i did'nt take it,however they told me when i get back, the work is there for me.,which made me very happy.
  16. 7# Loppy. the answer to your question Loppy' is, to take the job show them that you are keen, clean honest and reliable, and the chances are you will rise thru the ranks,if you throw yourself into it...........however if you just want to winge about the job you've taken you won't. Also if after giving it a reasonable length of time the opportunity for progression is'nt there move on,at least youve got a good track record on your CV for future employment.
  17. Still plenty of work out there, for those that are prepared to get off their backsides and go and look for it.!!!
  18. First music i remember hearing was on all my Aunts/Uncles singles of the day 78s' ,Johnnie Ray,Ruby Murray,Frankie Lane and Lita Rosa, even tho they were singles (78s) they were nearly as big as 'Dustbin lids'.That was in the early 50s,then late 50s and early 60s proper 'Pop' began with 'Cliff' Billy Fury, and some great Americans,Ricky Nelson,Paul Anka,Fabian,Jimmy Jones and Emile Ford to name just a few. Then we all had to have a 'Radiogramme'. Remember them? great big things that matched the Telly and sideboard, posh now, we started buying L.P.s,and drinking wine,as if it
  19. Always fascinated me how many people look a different nationality, with the world being a 'melting pot' nowadays, its understandable, but back in our school days prob.50s there was still that percentage that had a foreign look, must be something in all our ancestery that caused it,don't you think? I remember one day at school a Teacher got all those with Blue eyes and fair hair to stand up,and she then simplified the whole question,we who stood up were descended from the Saxons/Vikings,all the rest were'nt,and were probably Catholic, lol.
