  1. There's an article in the Post about amusing or appropriate shop names. http://www.nottinghampost.com/game-adding-flavour-store-wars/story-25970680-detail/story.html Have you seen any which are amusing or appropriate?
  2. On Lower Parliament Street (where Argos is now) used to be Cripps who sold Humber and Hillman cars. I've got a feeling that opposite (where Wilko's is today and previously housed Sainsbury's and Co-op) there used to be another car retailer. Maybe Atkey's?
  3. Overall Curriculum :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/parents/national_curriculum/ Primary and Secondary Curriculum :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/parents/subjects_taught/
  4. Yes I remember it being known as Damnation Corner too
  5. I believe the Star Garage is still there. I used to work opposite it for many years and the company I worked for used the garage for servicing etc.
  6. How did you find that Cliff Ton? I looked at Pictires this morning I couldn't find it!
  7. There used to be an old photo on “Picture the Past” showing a garage called Richards that sold Austin cars. It was situated on Hucknall Road near Hamilton Road at Carrington. Currently on the site is a filling station and I believe it’s no 33.
  8. The cinema opened in November 1914 - Closed December 1962 - Had 920 seats
  9. You would find very often a 'normal' record player had an adapter built in and could be raised from the centre of the turntable and twisted to enable the 'big holed' records to be played.
  10. It could have been in a jukebox. I think most d.js also used the 45s without the centre in them.
  11. An adaptor for 45rpm records that had the centre punched out and so couldn't be placed on the narrow spindle. The adaptor allowed them to still be played with the wider centre.
  12. No Robbie I don't - just wondered if you had shot it.
  13. Robbie did you take the photo of the bus or did someone else?
  14. On the date and time above there's the programme "Great British Railway Journeys" and it starts in Derby then Nottingham (where they include the origons of "Boots" and also included is "Newstead Abbey". Might be worth watching.
  15. Not received yet Andy
  16. Just tried sending you a message Hippo Girl and got this message "The member hippo girl cannot receive any new messages"
  17. Just sent a test message too.
  18. Have you finalised the cd on Windows XP so it can be read on other machines rather that the XP one?
  19. A Very Happy New Year to all of you I hope happiness and good health do ensue And 2015 brings no trouble or strife And it’s the best year of your life.
  20. A Very Merry Christmas to you all Hope Santa to your house does call Filling your stocking or perhaps a sack Leaving presents for you to unpack Expect there’ll be a heap on the floor As at the gift wrap you will claw And all because you want to see How much they’ve spent on your pressie But whether it cost pounds or pence Its value is of no consequence ‘Cos no matter how much you may try No money can true friendship buy.
  21. Obviously everyone isn’t going to have the same likes and dislikes but that’s no reason to put-down the programme or those who watch it. By criticising a particular programme it implies the person doing so is right and perfect. Some people think they’re right about everything but if everyone liked the same things it would a very sad and boring world.
